I wanted to share information about the Pain Science Life Stories project from Oregon. They host a free virtual meeting on Zoom the 2nd Thursday of each month featuring 2 speakers, a community member and a healthcare provider. The community member shares their personal pain story (last month’s the speaker spoke of the impact Pain Reprocessing Therapy had on her life). The healthcare speaker shares something about pain from their area of expertise and often shares their clinical experience moving from the biomedical model to the biopsychosocial model for treating pain. I was the healthcare speaker last month.
They record the speakers and post the videos with a summary and transcript to their recently launched website https://painsciencelifestories.com/. The monthly meeting and website are a great resource for both patients and clinicians who are interested in accurate science-based information about pain from a biopsychosocial perspective in a personal way with real stories.
Please consider attending a meeting, checking out the website, and sharing this information with others. They are also interested in finding community members and healthcare speakers.
PAIN SCIENCE LIFE STORIES VIRTUAL LIVE EVENT The Oregon Pain Science Alliance records Pain Science Life Stories (PSLS) eight times a year for inclusion in the story archive. Sessions are held the second Thursday, September through December and February-May, at 7 pm US
