🌍 World Cancer Day 🌍
Today we recognize the workers and families impacted by cancer—and we honor those who worked at Department of Energy (DOE) sites where exposure to radiation and toxic substances was part of the job.
Under the Special Exposure Cohort (SEC), certain cancers are recognized as being linked to these workplace exposures. These include leukemia (excluding CLL), multiple myeloma, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and cancers of the lung, breast, thyroid, bone, liver, stomach, colon, skin (melanoma), kidney, pancreas, brain, urinary bladder, o***y, esophagus, gall bladder, and salivary gland, among others.
Through the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA), eligible workers—and in many cases their survivors—may qualify for medical benefits, compensation, and ongoing care related to these illnesses.
You don’t have to navigate this process alone. Nuclear Workers Alliance is here to help you understand your eligibility and access the benefits you may be entitled to.
