Meet Sergeant Richard Stanley School Resource Officer
Sergeant Stanley began his law enforcement career in 1995 with the Lakeport Police Department, where he served for four years. During that time, he experienced events that shaped what would become his “why” in law enforcement.
In 1999, he joined the Kilgore Police Department, and by 2002, he fulfilled his calling by becoming a School Resource Officer. For the next 18 years, he dedicated himself to serving students and schools, guiding young people through their personal triumphs and challenges. Sergeant Stanley retired from Kilgore Police Department in December 2020 after being elected as the Rusk County Precinct 1 Constable, taking office in January 2021.
In July 2024, he continued his mission of service when he joined the Henderson Police Department as the School Resource Sergeant. Sergeant Stanley's “why” has always been rooted in knowing God’s purpose for his life working with young people as they grow, learn, and discover their own purpose. His greatest fulfillment comes from helping students realize that even in their struggles, there is meaning, direction, and value waiting to be found.
Outside of law enforcement, Sergeant Stanley has been married for nearly 30 years. He and his wife have one daughter and are proud grandparents of three grandsons. He is also a U.S. Navy veteran, having served one tour in Iraq.
