On multiple occasions, I have been asked “Have you been baptized with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues?” My answer is yes however, heavenly language is not all the Holy Spirit has gifted me. When you are filled and led by the Holy Spirit, He also changes you from the inside out and evidence is seen through you exhibiting the fruit of the spirit…the character of God and you need the Holy Spirit each and everyday to help you maintain God’s image. But LOVE supersedes them all because God’s LOVE conquers all! After all, it was His love that saved us from consequence of sin in exchange for His life. It is God’s love that demolishes the power of sin in our lives and it is His love that gives us freedom from the slavery of sin (Galatians 5:1) Love is key. Don’t seek gifts without first seeking a love relationship with the power source of those gifts. (Matt 6:33)🩷

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, most times my perspective of client problems are from a relational standpoint; after all, the quality of our lives is dependent on one very important relationship (God) but low quality relationships with family, friends, colleagues, church and the rest of the world also affects us.

I love this quote from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. because it highlight’s the importance of the family unit. Strong families are the fundamental building block of strong communities and societies. Families are where we are educated and indoctrinated during childhood and adolescence how to live a moral, creative and productive life for the Kingdom of God….or not. God calls parents to raise a child in the way they should go (Proverbs 22:6) which goes beyond church attendance. Parents should seek God about His plans and spiritual gifts for their children so that you can train them specifically in the will of the Lord.

As parents and followers of Jesus Christ we are called to serve as witnesses to our faith not just to the outside world but first, to our children and our family (our first ministry). We are called to demonstrate and model like Christ, by our words, actions and attitude with boldness, humility, tenacity, urgency and love.

2024 is the year of the family as God designed. The restoration of family relationships and the awakening of the importance and placement of family in the educational (not just academic) process of our children. As parents, we are our children’s first and life long educator. Our approach may change from a pedagogical approach to an andragogical one as our children mature but as mother and father like Dr.King said, we are the main educational agency of mankind.

I was talking to my Granny the other day and we were talking about interpersonal relationships within your family system and she said it’s up to the elders to teach the younger generation how to love and have healthy relationships. She said regardless of how you were raised, if you use the Jesus love model, you’ll break every generational stronghold!
Granny said, you have to foster a loving and healthy relationship with your grandkids straight out the womb and the love will continue, the love will promote grace and you will choose love regardless of how you feel. 🙌🏾♥️👏🏾🙌🏾♥️👏🏾🙌🏾♥️👏🏾

People ask what’s the difference between typical psychotherapy and what we do at Adullam House PLLC. Here is a difference:

1. Typical evidence-based therapeutic practice includes conducting what’s called a Biopsychosocial assessment. This assessment helps psychotherapists learn about their clients on multiple levels and better understand their subjective viewpoints. As a result, biopsychosocial assessments enable therapists to diagnose and effectively treat their clients.

2. At Adullam House we agree and affirm the evidence that the biology, psychology and social aspects of a client contribute to the complexities of mental health however, in addition to those and with more emphasis and attention we add the spiritual component and ascertain the quality of a client’s relationship with God and build treatment plans that help clients rekindle intimacy with God and fortify their faith during the healing process. Our assessments are
Spiritual-Biopsychosocial with the hyphen signifying the separation and superior nature and power of God. It also represents the cause and effect of our faith. At Adullam House, we don’t treat the fruit our aim is to treat the root.

Not just for one day but I encourage you to adapt and create a lifestyle of Thanksgiving each and everyday.

Thanksgiving = Kingdom Culture & Character

In fact, being thankful is a policy(word of God) outlined in our constitution (the Bible)! Paul gives his final instructions to the Church at Thessaloniki in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 and tells them to “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Check out the adverbs: Always & Continually. That doesn’t leave much room for negative, ungrateful thinking…but it happens right?! We’re human so accept God’s grace, the help of the Holy Spirit and keep trying!!
