January is Glaucoma Awareness Month—a critical time to raise awareness about the “silent thief of sight.” Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that damage the optic nerve, often caused by elevated pressure in the eye, and is one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness worldwide. Affecting over 3 million Americans, many are unaware they have the condition as it progresses without noticeable symptoms in its early stages.

Early detection through comprehensive eye exams is key to preserving vision. Those at higher risk, such as individuals over 60, those with a family history of glaucoma, and certain racial and ethnic groups need to be keenly aware of the benefits to early detection. Just a PSA for people contemplating Tmobile as a phone service… extremely unreliable service… there’s a reason they are cheaper… they suck! Dropped calls … and poor performance… don’t do it! 😢. Hopefully, KVC will be reachable by the beginning of 2025…

Low vision and blindness are a devastating disability that my patients struggle with because it is NOT visible to everyone… be aware of the blessing you have if you are able sighted! You only have one set of eyes in a lifetime…take care of them!🤓
