Subject: A Heartfelt Message About Our Care and an Important Transition for Kimberling Vision Center and Low Vision Specialists patients

Dear Valued Patient,

It has been our sincere privilege to care for you and your vision over the years. Because of the trust you have placed in us, we feel it is important to share an update with honesty, clarity, and gratitude.

As you may be aware, Kimberling Vision Center closed our location at the end of 2025 due to ongoing insurance and administrative challenges beyond our control. At the same time, we are excited to continue our mission of caring for patients at Low Vision Specialists in Springfield, where we will remain deeply committed to providing the same compassionate, high-quality eye care you have come to expect as well as expand our services for low vision to assist people on the brink of blindness.

Because of the current state of affairs in the insurance industry, we have made the decision to move out of network with all insurance companies except traditional Medicare (when they approve us). This has been a difficult and disappointing process, especially knowing how it impacts our patients. In response, and with your needs in mind, we have significantly reduced our fees and transitioned to a cash-pay model. We are in the process of getting Care Credit, a medical credit card, to help, if needed.

With great respect and humility, we ask for your support. If you value the care we have provided and wish to continue receiving services from us, we kindly ask you to consider paying for your visits at the time of service. We will gladly provide a detailed statement that you may submit directly to your insurance company for out of network reimbursement.

This decision was not made lightly. It comes from our unwavering commitment to continue serving you with integrity, excellence, and personalized care—without compromise.

Thank you for your understanding, your loyalty, and the trust you have placed in us. We truly look forward to continuing to care for your vision and welcoming you to Low Vision Specialists in Springfield.

Today…I never saw it coming…but its here and I celebrate all we have accomplished over the last thirty years… all the people we have helped and interacted with…all the people that have passed through our doors and touched our lives…its been a ride for sure! This is NOT goodbye, but see you soon in Springfield.

Low Vision Specialists is on the south side of Springfield right off James River (Hwy 60) and National. Easy to get to location.

January is Glaucoma Awareness Month—a critical time to raise awareness about the “silent thief of sight.” Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that damage the optic nerve, often caused by elevated pressure in the eye, and is one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness worldwide. Affecting over 3 million Americans, many are unaware they have the condition as it progresses without noticeable symptoms in its early stages.

Early detection through comprehensive eye exams is key to preserving vision. Those at higher risk, such as individuals over 60, those with a family history of glaucoma, and certain racial and ethnic groups need to be keenly aware of the benefits to early detection. Just because your eye doesn’t “hurt” doesn’t mean it’s healthy. At Low Vision Specialists, we utilize advanced technology to screen for functional defects in your vision prior to diseases showing up structurally.
