Federal nutrition standards guide us in the transformation to healthier school lunches. A healthy, well balanced school lunch gives the students the nutrients they need to have success in their education. Changes Include:
Calorie Ranges appropriate for age
Lowfat or fat free milk
Larger servings sizes of fruit and vegetables
Increased variety of vegetables
More whole grains
Less Sodium

Frosting? Pudding? Whipped Cream?…These were the guesses but it was Mashed potatoes with beet root powder. They were a huge hit a Mitchell Taste it Day today! Maine Harvest of the Month in Feb. is Root Vegetables! We featured beets by using the powder. The kids loved it and it’s a great way to add more nutrients to an old favorite! ❤️
