Good evening to all! It has been a bit since I have gotten on here. That’s what having a baby will do 🥰 But I am now at a great point to start seeing lactation clients and opening my calendar for birth prep, birth, and postpartum doula work as well. Appointments will be conducted at my office in the Mountain View Wellness Clinic. As well as birth prep classes.

They have services for physical therapy for pregnancy and postpartum as well in the clinic. If interested. Please share with anyone that could be in interest of the services. ❤️ so happy to be back serving the families of our community.

I’ve been taking a step back from my practice and really focusing on family and prepping to be a family of FOUR!!! We found out we are having a little girl!!! With some super fun first trimester symptoms it had made seeing clients and making even virtual appointments close to impossible. But now second trimester energy levels have me feeling like a new women. I will be practicing more and seeing patients but keeping myself and my family the first priority. 💗 I have been diving into training and learning as much as possible to be as knowledgeable and helpful to all who are needing it. Just a little life update ❤️ hope everyone is doing wonderful!!

I remember being about 8 months pregnant with a big ole pregnant belly, constantly getting jabbed in the ribs and feeling tickles in my hip. I always wondered what the heck was going on in there.

Now being a birth worker I have done multiple trainings with Spinning Babies and learned how they work with mothers to become fascinated on babies movements in utero to map out how baby is positioned to feel better connected and aware of where baby is at in there. It can be a awesome way of creating a strong relationship with your baby before birth.

It is also a great way to see where baby is sitting during the third trimester to get a better idea of babies position in the womb for birth. Left Occiput Anterior (LOA) has the reputation of the best fetal position. But it is just one of the best positions to help baby be the smallest diameter to fit through the birth canal. (Which means shorter and less painful labor for you!) YAY!

If we find baby happens to be in a less than optimal position there are ways to help encourage baby to shift into a more optimal position and this would be one of those scenarios that belly mapping comes in handy doing ahead of time! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like to talk more on belly mapping. ❤️

Such important information ❤️❤️

Such important information ❤️❤️

Small tweaks in positioning can make all the difference in comfort, milk transfer and even weight gain. A deep latch allows the ni**le to be pulled towards the junction between the soft and hard palate.  This helps stimulate active suckling and more effective feeding.
🤍
Often we are told to line baby up nose to ni**le. This helps baby's rooting reflex.  But, to get a deep latch, your baby's chin should be tucked in close to your breast and their head should be able to extend back.  Extending their neck also allows your baby to open their mouth wider. If you're not sure, ask a supporter to take a picture of your baby's position during feeding, and look at their position from a different angle!

If something doesn't feel right, get support from your hospital infant feeding team, volunteer support group or an IBCLC.

I’ve been doing lots of work lately with newborn babies and supply issues with mamas. When there are some cases where supply is a true issue. It’s more commonly a misconception of what the “normal” amount of milk produced should be. This chart is amazing in showing the size of the stomach of your little one. So when you’re at the hospital and they hand you a large two ounce bottle of formula to feed your newborn baby that’s stomach is the size of a cherry, of course it is going to set in some very negative thoughts on how much milk you should be producing. About 50% of women stop breastfeeding due to a milk supply issue. If you feel your babe isn’t getting enough nutrition seek out support from a lactation consultant if you can to assess your concerns and give insight. ❤️

I’ve seen a lot of posts talking about the “multi-tasking goddess” image that we’ve created for mothers lately. Moms are absolute super hero’s. We get s**t done.

But that s**t is really hard. Those early days when you can’t remember the last time you felt like yourself. You shouldn’t have to do 4 things at one time to feel accomplished and a “boss mom”.

This narrative that society sells is so difficult. It glazes over the real struggle that is motherhood. The crying in the shower, feeling overwhelmed, feeling so exhausted, the amount of resentment that comes from how much you can miss who you were before and what you could easily do before you were “mom”. And if you do feel any of these things your overcome with guilt because society tells you “be grateful, others would wish for your life” or “at least it’s not as bad as ____”. We are not designed to do life alone. All of motherhood especially that adjustment period in postpartum can be so isolating and taxing on your mental health. Leading to later larger problems down the road. Support systems are great. But if you feel that they are bringing more stress on then alleviating it. They aren’t supporting you. Find yourself a village. Look for postpartum doulas in your area. Chat with them about how they can help make that adjustment SO MUCH easier. No need to suffer just because society says that’s the way that it is.

Birth Services: Emotional support; create a ideal space where the hormones of labor can work their best. Physical support including implementing all things practiced in the prenatal care. A doula’s skilled hands and positioning tools can often help a malpositioned baby find its way through the pelvis and into the birthing parent’s arms if/when other medical staff is busy and unable to have the time dedicated to specifically her. Also offer support to the partner to give them rest to have energy for mom and baby once labor has concluded. And allowing the partners to have their own emotional journey. Advocating, serving as a bridge of communication between women and their providers, lifting them up to help them find their voices and advocate for the very best care. In most developed countries, ever since birth moved out of the home and into the hospital, laboring people are frequently submitted to institutional routines, high intervention rates, staff who are strangers, lack of privacy, bright lighting, and needles. These harsh conditions may slow down a person’s labor and their self-confidence. Doulas are thought to be a form of pain relief in themselves. They can lead to an increase in oxytocin, the hormone that promotes labor contractions. A lot of research has been done on this and I would love to answer any questions people have. ❤️ these services would need to be placed as soon as possible. I would be on call from the time your full term till you go into labor. Arriving however soon you’d want me there until your babe is born and you are all settled in. ❤️
