Laura's Transformation Tuesday

Laura's 90 day transformation was incredible. She didn't have any crazy weight loss, but her physique transformation was absolutely incredible!

Laura is the other half to Brooks who was featured in last week's transformation. She too focused on habit-based changes to get to her goals. She put in all of the hard work and made time in her busy schedule to get the work done. She didn't let the number on the scale deter her efforts, especially since there were obvious changes happening in the mirror.

One of the coolest parts about this transformation is that her and Brooks did it together. They dieted together, they trained together, and they lived together (not always the easiest thing to do when you're dieting ). I'm confident that both of them having goals that aligned helped both of them be more successful in this challenge.

This is one of the easiest ways to stay on track when dieting since restaurants are incredibly good at hiding extra calories in food. 🥘🍜🍨
-

After all, people go to restaurants to eat delicious food.
-

This often means a ton of extra oil and/or sugar that can have you easily consuming 1500 calories in one sitting.
-

❇️A good rule of thumb is to choose foods that you can easily identify all ingredients.

❇️Another way is to simply choose a meat, carb, and vegetable when putting your meal together (keeping the first point in mind).

Keep it simple. Be successful.

Overall, a night out with coworkers and friends for a few drinks may add to your life experience 🍻🍾🥃
-

However, you should choose to drink in moderation regardless of your s*x characteristics due to the additional calories (from the alcohol and then subsequent Taco Bell run), lack of judgement and motor skills when heavily intoxicated, and have we mentioned being hungover?
-

Menno Henselmans has a great write up called “The effects of alcohol on muscle growth” where this information was referenced. Definitely a recommended read if you’re interested to check it out further 📖
-

In the slides above we provide broken down guidelines that are easy to understand and apply immediately to your life in order to make the best choices with alcohol moving forward.
-

A few drinks with friends after a long day seems fine for the most part.
-

More than that may be causing you to struggle harder in order to reach your fitness goals.

Check out this EPIC transformation by that we couldn’t help but share again! Brooks is coached by

He and his wife (her transformation is also 🤯 - we’ll post soon) entered a transformation contest and had 90 days to make both physical and mental improvements.

See what he had to say below:

“The biggest takeaway from working with Aaron is that I don’t have the need to track everything I eat. From his coaching, I’m now able to eat throughout the day and know proper serving sizes to get the necessary nutrition and energy to help reach my goals.

………..Whether you’re looking to transform yourself into ways you couldn’t imagine, or simply want insight/guidance on nutrition and exercises, has it all and you won’t regret it!”

Brooks executed every detail of his programming, made sure to quickly adjust any mistakes, performed cardio only when necessary, and got to reap the benefits 💪

Aaron was there to guide those efforts in order to make his journey efficient, effective, and enjoyable.

This is how two people collaborate in order to reach an end goal - Congrats again to Aaron and Brooks! 👏

If you’ve been following our content you know that fat loss, in its simplest form, can be achieved through consistent exercise and consuming less energy (through food) than you expend (through daily activity and metabolic processes).
-

But how do you sustain that fat loss, potentially forever?
-

Here a 3 easy ways to help sustain fat loss:

✅ Track body weight daily
▶️Weighing every day (7x/week) has a statistically significant effect on the rate of weight loss in subject as opposed to weighing < or = 6x/week
▶️Participants even were “more likely” to adapt weightloss behaviors (e.g. reducing the number of times eating out and decreasing the amount of between meal snacks they consume)
▶️The study details can be seen if you scroll and check out past posts
-

✅ Walk every chance you get
▶️When estimating for total calories expended each day, non-exercise activity thermogenesis (NEAT) tends to have a large influence along with BMR (amongst other variables)
▶️NEAT induces minimal fatigue & can be improved by simply walking up stairs over taking an elevator or choosing to park farther away from the store in a parking lot
▶️Tracking step count is another way to ensure NEAT consistency daily
-

✅ Automate your nutrition
▶️Cooking healthy meals that taste good take up time that could be best spent elsewhere
▶️Nutrition should be automated through simplified preparation, weekly meal prep/bulk protein prep, or outsourcing cooking by utilizing pre made meal services
▶️The program ensures you automate your nutrition with ease (even detailing how you can combine each method to find the optimal automation for your own lifestyle)
-

Fat loss isn’t hard but creating new habits to encourage it can be difficult.

Where the mind goes, the body will follow.
-

Every action you’ve ever taken had to be initiated by your mind; consciously or subconsciously.
-

Being inspired by a physique you want to achieve is great initial motivation.
-

But what happens when your tastes change as you grow older?
-

Are you still going to be motivated to take action? Or are you going to let the idea that time controls you cause you to constantly ask yourself “what if….”?
-

Your timeless “why” takes your short term goal and transforms it into a constant pursuit of betterment and success.
-

When time no longer dictates your motivation, your goals seem more achievable and, therefore, become inevitable.

What is a fixed vs growth mindset? And why is it important to understand?
-

One mindset often believes skills and/or intelligence is pre-determined and when met with challenges, they avoid them while assuming they can’t achieve the results they want.
-

Their thought process is fixed and individuals with this type of mindset may receive criticism as threatening to their ego and tend to feel threatened by others’ achievements.
-

The other mindset allows for a thought process driven by the pursuit of growth.
-

Individuals who experience this mindset tend to understand that they may not be born inherently good at something right away. Nonetheless, this doesn’t mean they don’t have the ability to improve.
-

They see obstacles in their way and look for solutions instead of excuses why they can’t overcome them.
-

A growth mindset seeks constant refinement of their skill set in order to achieve their goals, acknowledges what they can improve, focuses on what they can control, and executes in a systematic fashion optimal to their lifestyle.
-

What separates okay results from great results may be closer than you think.
-

Adapt your mindset. Adapt your lifestyle. Achieve your goals.

3 easy ways to increase your NEAT without changing your daily routine (👆👀👇).

Evidence seems to strongly indicate that adjusting your dietary intake to meet your desired physique goal holds a greater amount of weight to your potential success than other methods (e.g. increasing daily caloric expenditure through additional cardio sessions).

Nonetheless, making small adjustments to increase your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE) throughout your day can aid in your attempt to lose fat currently and keep fat off in the future (slide 2).

NEAT = Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis.

Your TDEE is made up of various things like your resting metabolic rate (RMR), diet-induced thermogenesis (DIT) or sometimes known as the ‘thermic effect of food’ (TEF), and physical activity-related energy expenditure [P*E; which sub divides into NEAT and Exercise Activity Thermogenesis (EAT)].

While EAT relates to the calories burned when performing purposeful exercise such as resistance training, NEAT involves movements in almost every other scenario.

From fidgeting at your desk (tapping your foot or clicking your pen) to walking to and from your car or carrying the groceries inside (who else refuses to take more than one trip 🙋‍♂️?).

The thing is, the more you lose weight the more your body tends to stop subconsciously move around.

Since NEAT makes up a majority of P*E when accounting for your TDEE, utilizing ways to increase your daily NEAT (SWIPE 👉) will allow you the chance to avoid weight loss plateaus and potentially gain less body fat when trying to build muscle.

For someone who tends to have a lot of work to do at a desk, sits around for long meetings, or simply doesn’t have the time to do hours upon hours of cardio, these tips are extremely beneficial.
