Most of modern healthcare is very good at managing disease. What it’s not very good at is actually creating health.

I see this all the time. Someone’s labs come back “normal,” but they still feel exhausted, inflamed, foggy, gaining weight, and generally not like themselves. The system says everything is fine, but the patient knows something is off.

In this episode of The Trillium Show, I sat down with Danese Rexroad, Chief Clinical Officer at Ways2Well, to talk about what’s actually driving so much of the chronic illness we’re seeing today. Danese works at the intersection of metabolic health, hormone optimization, and functional medicine, and we had a really thoughtful conversation about why so many people fall through the cracks of traditional healthcare.

We talked about why metabolic dysfunction sits underneath so many major diseases, what’s really happening with hormones as we age, and why women navigating perimenopause are so often dismissed or told their symptoms are “just part of getting older.” We also got into environmental toxins like BPA and glyphosate, the role of strength training as we age, and how medications like GLP-1s can be helpful when they’re used thoughtfully and paired with the right lifestyle strategy.

This episode is really about zooming out and looking at the bigger picture. Not chasing symptoms, but understanding root causes and building a plan that protects your health span, not just your lifespan.

RF microneedling isn’t magic, it’s controlled injury + intelligent energy delivery.

When it’s done correctly, it can improve skin texture, firmness, and fine lines by stimulating your own collagen.
When it’s done poorly? You risk burns, fat loss, and disappointing results.

This is why device choice, depth, and experience matter.
There’s a right way to do this and LOTS of wrong ways.

To learn more about RF Microneedling and see if it’s the correct treatment for you, check out episodes 103, 101, and 90 of The Trillium Show.

At 62, facial aging isn’t just “loose skin.” It’s changes in deeper structures of the face and neck.

This is 6 months after a deep plane face and neck lift. A technique that repositions what’s actually falling, instead of just pulling the surface tighter.

No filters, no filler, no gimmicks. Just anatomy, time, and thoughtful surgery.

If you’re considering surgery, this is the part no one explains well online: good results should look like you, just less tired.

You don’t get “jowls” in isolation. Your jawline and your neck age together.

If you don’t understand that connection, it’s easy to chase treatments that don’t actually address the problem.

This episode breaks down what’s really happening anatomically when you see jowls forming on your face and how to think about your options before you waste money or get overtreated.

Listen today on episode 107 of the Trillium Show and make sure to tune in next Thursday for an even deeper dive on jowls.

I wrote a free Patient’s Guide to Facelift Surgery because most people come into consults with a mix of good questions and really confusing information from the internet.

This guide walks through how facelifts actually work, how techniques differ, what recovery looks like, and how to think about surgery vs non-surgical options.

If you’re curious, considering surgery someday, or just want better information, you can download it for free today through the link in my bio.

6 months after a deep plane facelift on a 57-year-old patient and the after photos speak for themselves!

This is the stage where results become real. The swelling has resolved, tissues have settled, and what you’re seeing reflects structural change, not tight skin or early postoperative fullness.

The goal isn’t to look “done.” It’s to restore balance in the lower face and neck while keeping features natural and recognizable.

Good facial surgery shouldn’t announce itself. It should simply look like time was handled well.

Want to explore your options? Schedule a consultation with me at today!

For years, people have been told: “Don’t touch hormones — they cause cancer.”

That fear has kept a lot of patients exhausted, inflamed, and stuck in survival mode. The reality is more nuanced — and the data doesn’t support the way this gets repeated.

If hormone therapy has felt confusing, scary, or off-limits for you, the full episode with of is definitely worth your time.

We’ve built a healthcare system that’s great at reacting to disease — and pretty bad at creating real health.

If your labs come back “normal” but you still feel tired, foggy, inflamed, or off… that disconnect matters. It usually means we’re missing root causes and treating symptoms instead of systems.

On this week’s episode of The Trillium Show, I sit down with Danese Rexroad (Chief Clinical Officer at Ways2Well) to break down what actually drives long-term health as we age — metabolism, hormones, training, toxins, and why so many people get dismissed along the way.

We cover:
• Why metabolic dysfunction underlies most chronic disease
• Hormones, perimenopause, and what’s really happening in midlife
• How toxins quietly disrupt metabolism
• How to train as you age (and why strength matters more than you think)
• The right way to use GLP-1s without sacrificing muscle
• Why health span should be the goal

If you’ve been told you’re “fine” but don’t feel fine — this conversation might be for you. Watch the full episode on YouTube or listen on your favorite podcast player.

We are celebrating one year of my book, “The Art of Aging” 🎉🍻🥳

When I wrote this book, the goal was simple:
help people stop wasting money, stop chasing trends, and start making smarter, biology-based decisions about their skin and faces.

A year later, what I’m most proud of isn’t sales or rankings, it’s the messages from people who finally feel confident saying no to hype, influencers, and treatments that never made sense for them in the first place.

The beauty industry is loud. This book was my attempt to quiet the noise and give you a clear framework for what actually works—at any age—without looking fake or doing too much.

If this book has saved you money, stress, or regret (or helped you ask better questions of your provider), thank you for trusting me with that. And if you haven’t read it yet, it’s never too late to take control of your routine!

Here’s to one year of looking great, not fake!

Dementia teaches you a brutal lesson about time. Not how much of it you have—but how fast it disappears when you assume it’s guaranteed.

There are conversations you think you’ll get to. Stories you assume will always be there. Details you don’t realize matter until they’re gone.

This episode of The Trillium Show is me stepping away from medicine and talking honestly about my mom, our family, and what I wish I’d understood earlier.

If this is part of your life right now, I hope this pushes you to act sooner. Not fearfully, just intentionally.

Changing Lives In The USA And Abroad

This last point – being able to change the course of another person’s entire life for the better (and from the very beginning) – lays at the foundation of what being a doctor is. It is why I get up every day. It is also the reason I travel internationally on surgical missions. Overseas mission trips are exhausting, they are uncomfortable, and they are hard. However, to know after a week of surgery that I have personally changed the lives of twenty individual children and their families is a feeling that is difficult to describe, and without actually going on one of those trips, it’s difficult to explain. I would love it if you all had the opportunity to experience it, and encourage you to volunteer your time on one of these trips if you can.

That said, I realize that most people will never have the chance to experience a medical mission trip. However, I have come up with a way to allow everyone that has “joined” our practice family to share in the joy that comes with that kind of service.

We call this program “For You. For All.”

For every cosmetic procedure that I perform – from lesion removals to filler and Botox to surgery – a portion of the fee will be donated to charity organizations dedicated to improving the lives of children who otherwise would go without the surgical care that they need to live happy, fulfilled lives. It’s my way of giving – not only to those children, but to you. And every year, you’ll be able to see the impact you have on other children’s lives, simply by being a part of ours.
