These days, we are often encouraged to "shop small," but what are the real reasons this is important?

There are quite a few, but we've gathered a list of some of our favorites for this post. Shopping small can:

1.) Contribute to the economic growth of small towns, keeping money in the community rather than giving it to larger corporations.
2.) Preserve the distinctive character of our small towns, rather than letting them blend into the ever-increasing urban sprawl.
3.) Encourage innovation, creativity, and diversity. If unique, one-of-a-kind businesses do well, more people will open them!
4.) Finally, it's sustainable! Big companies tend to create a lot of waste, which we avoid by shopping small.
