At Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations, we understand that families need to be treated with the greatest sensitivity, compassion, dignity and professionalism during their most personal times of loss. His son, Gilbert Koenig, joined his father in the funeral business in 1920 at the age of 12 years. In March, 1936, he and his father built funeral home in La Grange. Gilbert was actively engaged in and managed the funeral business until 1976 when he sold the firm. Associated with the funeral home and serving various communities were chapels located in Fayetteville, Industry and Ellinger as they stand today. Gilbert Koenig was actively involved with the community having served on the La Grange City Council nineteen consecutive years; eight years as Mayor Pro tem and two years as Mayor. He served as president of the Texas Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association, Texas State Board of Embalming and the State Board of Morticians. The current owner of the funeral home, John Belvill, carries on the Koenig tradition of quality service. John Belvill has been a licensed funeral director/embalmer for over 32 years. Belvill holds degrees in funeral service and Psychology. He has spent virtually his entire life around the funeral business, working to improve the quality of service to families throughout the industry. Belvill purchased Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home in 2008 which had been something he wanted to do for many years; knowing that he could continue the strong tradition of service. The funeral home currently employs thirteen employees to serve the needs of La Grange, Fayetteville, Ellinger and Industry. Soon the Koenig name will be expanded to Ellinger with construction of a new funeral home in the Fall of 2013. As with the Koenig family, we are dedicated to the strong sense of community service and commitment to the families we serve. As with Mr. Koenig, “Your confidence is our sacred obligation”.
