Dessert is life - sometimes that means savoring a cup of tea or biting into a juicy clementine, but other times it's about indulging in sweet baked goods. pistachio cake mix sparked the idea for an upside-down cake, and sweet cherries brought it all together. Now, tea's on and this treat awaits 😋

I enjoy a good cookbook - stories of people and places - the foods, celebrations, and history of many cultures.

Yet, for the basics, time and again is one of my prime go-to’s.

Today’s pleasure is tiramisu which I’ve prepped in two loaf pans for easier storage.

He offers two options in his book “How to Bake Everything - with and without eggs. I prefer the more custardy feel of the eggy version - and while my daughter was pregnant, I was grateful for an egg free option.

Gonna pop these into the fridge to chill and resume dinner preps.

How’s your Saturday?

The world feels a little chaotic and frightening right now.
When things feel this way, I try to return to small, steady acts of care.

Not big overhauls or perfect routines, just gentle practices that help me stay grounded and remember that tending to ourselves matters. When we care for our own well-being, that care has a way of rippling outward into the world.

So I gathered 15 of my favorite ways to nourish yourself - simple, supportive practices for body, mind, and spirit.

Some invite you to shift your energy. Others encourage you to tend friendships, savor the seasons, cook something nourishing, or simply curl up and rest.

They aren’t rules or rigid routines - just small rituals and habits you can welcome into your day to bring comfort, balance, and a little joy.

Pick a few, try one at a time, or wander through the whole bunch. Each small step helps build a balanced, nourishing rhythm.

✨ If you’d like to explore them, they are waiting for you at the link in my bio.

What began as a simple dinner of eggplant parm evolved to include cacio e pepe and a link of rosemary Italian sausage.

Never one to leave good enough alone - and the desire always for something green - dinner now also includes garlicky roasted broccoli tossed into the pasta.

Time to make the garlic sauce!

The flavor of fresh kitchen herbs is superior to dried, in my opinion, but using what’s on hand is where it’s at.

Putting together ingredients for a Greek inspired meatloaf - lots of fresh onion, garlic, and parsley - and using dried oregano and mint.

Have you been over to my blog? This week I am talking about parsley - in cooking and healing.

💧 Your Lymph and Blood Are Mostly Water — Treat Them Well

Supporting your lymphatic system starts with hydration. Gentle, steady sipping throughout the day - warm water in the morning, a brothy soup at lunch, herbal tisanes in the evening - keeps your body nourished, your fascia supple, and lymph moving with ease. Think of it like watering a plant: slow, consistent care nourishes the roots, instead of dumping it all in at once.

💧 Make Hydration a Ritual, Not a Chore

Tiny, mindful habits turn hydration into a nurturing part of your day: a splash of lemon in your water, a sprig of mint, a soothing cup of chamomile before bed. These small rituals quietly support circulation, digestion, and immune resilience, leaving you lighter, more energized, and beautifully in flow.

I’d love for you to join me for The Parsley Series. The first post is live now - and by the end, I think you’ll see this little green bundle in a whole new light. With recipes, tips, and simple health insights, this series isn’t about perfection. It’s about small, sustainable shifts that make food feel alive again. Sometimes wellness doesn’t start with something new. It starts by seeing the ordinary in a fresh way. - https://mailchi.mp/94bd9fcd0cdd/a-little-green-magic-the-parsley-series

I’ve taken quite a shine to baking in springform pans - like today - I baked a spanakopita in a 9” pan.

Seeing the baked layers was quite a thing of beauty!

I keep phyllo tucked in the freezer. Not a cultural food for my family, and anything I bake in these crispy sheets of heaven automatically feels fancy.

Kitchen staples - (frozen) chopped spinach and kale, sautéed onion and garlic, fresh and dried herbs (oregano, dill, parsley, cilantro), red chili flakes, salt & pepper, and Greek feta (sheep & goat milk) - sandwiched between layers of buttery phyllo. A light sprinkle of sesame seeds on top. Baked at 375F for an hour until golden brown.

I let it cool for about 5 minutes before I sprung the sides. Another 10 minutes before we cut into it.

Authentic? No
Delicious? Oooooooh yeah!
