She is also the granddaughter of Bob & Sharon Mendheim, and the late Bufford and Lucile Selman. I am Amber's mother, Deborah Mendheim Kervin, my step-daughter, Beth described Amber so well in the GoFundMe page she set up for Amber. Amber's mom married my dad when we were 7 & 8, we're exactly 6 months apart in age. She's always had a kind heart, and some might say, "an old soul". And a sense of humor with a contagious laugh. She's fun, outgoing and very determined. She was diagnosed just before her birthday in April with a rare form of ovarian cancer, Sarcomatoid Carcinoma, which is very aggressive. She has been positive through it all, a shining, hopeful light. Her mother says she's stoic, and that's Amber. I wouldn't expect her to react any differently. She has gone through 2 treatments so far with two different types of chemo, Taxol and Carboplatin, some really rough stuff -and has 4 more to go, which she'll get every 3 weeks. Most would turn bitter, but not Amber, she comforts those who love her, telling them not to worry, it'll be okay. Amber is loved by so many people, her fiance Brandon has stuck by her side and has taken care of her, as well as her mother and sister, but she's loved the most by her little boy Tristan, who is 7 yrs old. I'm sure other mothers can empathize about how utterly terrifying it would be to be in that situation knowing you have a child that needs you -that needs you when chemo has you bedridden and sick, that needs you to beat cancer and survive to watch him grow and succeed in life, and catch him when he falls. And he goes through it with her. No child should ever have to see their mom suffer. No one going through this terrible experience should have to worry about bills on top of everything else. And as you are all probably aware healthcare isn't cheap. I wanted to start this for Amber so that that burden and fear might lift, so that she won't have to worry where the money will come from, so she can continue supporting her son. If you know her then you know she'd help anyone in need. I ask those who know her to give because she would do it for you, I ask those who don't know her to give because you have a heart and helping those in need feels good. Whatever you're able to spare $5 or $50 both will be greatly appreciated and well used keeping this beautiful woman who she is, and with us. If you've made it this far reading I already thank you for your time. Please remember to share and get this post circulated as much as possible. From the bottom of our hearts (everyone who loves and cares for her), THANK YOU! From the bottom of her parents grateful hearts, we ask family and friends to join us on this journey as we help her fight the dreaded "C" word.
