People are still yelling about the puzzle piece and the color blue while families like mine are drowning because there are no resources.

I’ve spent months trying to find someone, anyone, willing to care for Charlie so I can have a break. I’ve fought for AAC devices, sat on waitlists for evaluations, fought the school district, and been told over and over again that there’s just no space, no staff, no resources.

But yeah, sure. Let’s make the puzzle piece the big issue.

The problem isn’t a symbol. The problem is that families like mine are drowning while everyone’s arguing over branding.

We’re drowning, but hey, at least we’re not wearing blue, right?šŸ™„

ABA is under constant attack.

And yet, when real opportunities arise to show the world what ethical, compassionate, life-changing ABA actually looks like… so many people say no.

Recently, a major international media outlet offered to film a short segment highlighting what good ABA looks like at Charlie’s ABA center. It wasn’t sensational or exploitative. It was respectful, clear, and potentially transformative in shifting public opinion.

But they turned it down. No explanation. Just… no.

And honestly? That’s what frustrates me most.

So many people in this field believe in what they do. They say ABA, when done right, is effective and life-changing. But when given the chance to show that to the world? Silence. Shrinking back. Fear of backlash.

Privacy concerns? Totally valid. And easily addressed, faces can be blurred, names omitted, consent honored. But fear of judgment? That’s not a good enough reason to stay quiet.

The misinformation won’t stop on its own. It spreads because the loudest voices are rarely the ones with firsthand experience.

If you believe in what you do, show up for it.

Because if we keep letting others tell the story of ABA, don’t be surprised when the world keeps getting it wrong.

Your voice matters. Speak up!
