Whimsy is choosing aliveness in a world that often asks us to endure. It’s the moment you remember you are more than your roles, your responsibilities, your or your pain. Remember that not everything meaningful has to be efficient or useful.

When life has taught you to stay guarded, efficient, or hyper-functional, whimsy becomes an act of defiance. This defiance isn't against reality but against forgetting yourself within it.

When you’ve spent a long time bracing against the world (being productive, responsible, vigilant) whimsy can feel unfamiliar, even undeserved. Healing isn’t only about processing pain or making sense of the past. It’s also about expanding your capacity for joy, play, aliveness and presence.

A small ritual.
A moment of beauty.
Something unnecessary that makes you feel present with the here and now.

Whimsy reminds the nervous system that meaning isn’t only found through suffering. It can also be found through joy, curiosity, and choice. It reminds you that you are allowed to experience beauty without earning it.

This is how we practice being alive.
And that, my friends, is one of the most sacred parts of healing. ✨🌿

We're excited to announce that we're hosting an upcoming CEU event on 3/21/26.

What If You Make Sense? is a beginner-friendly trauma CEU designed to help clinicians build a strong foundation in trauma-informed care before jumping into advanced techniques.

This training focuses on understanding trauma through the nervous system, attachment, and ethical case conceptualization. There's a real emphasis on pacing, scope of practice, and knowing when to process vs. when to stabilize.

If you’ve ever felt unsure about how fast is too fast in trauma work, this training is for you.
Slower is faster. Always.

📚 approved for 3.0 diagnosis CEUs through LCA & 3.0 clinical CEUs through NASW-LA

Learning objectives:

💫Differentiate types of trauma (acute, chronic, and complex developmental trauma) and describe how each may present clinically across emotional, relational, and nervous system domains.

💫Identify key features of trauma-related presentations, including attachment disruptions, affect dysregulation, dissociation, and defensive adaptations, that impact diagnosis and treatment planning.

💫Apply ethical case conceptualization principles to assess client readiness for trauma processing versus the need for stabilization, resourcing, or containment.
Distinguish appropriate use of top-down and bottom-up interventions based on client capacity, clinical presentation, and scope of practice considerations.

💫Recognize the relationship between trauma and suicidality, including increased prevalence and shared risk pathways, and integrate su***de risk awareness into trauma-informed assessment and treatment planning.

Staying the same has a cost.
Changing has a cost, too.

Both paths can feel uncomfortable.
Both can be hard on the nervous system.

The question isn’t how do I avoid discomfort.
The question really is which discomfort moves me closer to the person I’m becoming.

Growth doesn’t mean forcing change or abandoning who you are. It means choosing alignment over familiarity, again and again and again. It means choosing it at a pace your body can tolerate.

You don’t have to rush your becoming.
You just have to choose it.

You cannot be calm in an environment that is chronically unsafe, chaotic, or harmful. Coping skills are not meant to override reality. They’re not designed to help you tolerate disrespect, instability, emotional neglect, or constant threat.

If your nervous system feels anxious, shut down, irritable, or exhausted in those environments, that doesn’t mean you’re “bad at regulation.” It means your body is accurately responding to what’s happening.

Regulation isn’t about staying calm at all costs. It’s about your system reading danger, stress, or misalignment AND responding appropriately.

Skills help after safety. Healing happens within stability. Growth requires an environment that doesn’t keep re-wounding you.

Sometimes the work isn’t “learn another tool.” Sometimes the work is naming what’s not okay while also choosing differently when you can.

JUMP SCARE! Accidentally double booking is nightmare material.

2 out of 3 for rock 🪨, paper 📝, scissors ✂️. Winner gets the appointment!

Regulation is not the absence of emotion.

It’s the ability to stay connected to your body, your inner world, and the present moment while emotions move through you.

You can feel activated, overwhelmed, grieving, or uncertain and still be regulated.

Regulation means your nervous system has enough safety and support to remain engaged with life rather than retreat into survival.

Calm isn’t the goal.
Presence is.
Aliveness is.
Choice is.
Connection is.

When you stay connected to yourself, you create space to meet what’s here, make meaning of your experience, and gently release what no longer needs to be carried. ✨🌿
