A rare occurrence!
Patient came in regarding an incidental finding on #31 during a routine check up with her primary dentist. First impression was that to perform a routine revision of the previous RCT, which normally would resolve the lesion adjacent to the mesial root, but always kept an alert mind as the lesion was located an an odd location relative to the root. After the retreatment, I was expecting a lateral canal or secondary anatomy to be picked up, but despite utilizing everything for this case including laser, no such result was obtained. That’s when I became suspicious even more and decided to have another set of eyes look at this case, this time Oral surgery. My gut feeling was telling me this is beyond just a LOE ( Lesion of Endodontic origin).
When the report came back from OS, it confirmed my suspicions were correct…

#18 was treated in a single visit.( tooth on the right) Always satisfying to see the details in these cases and for them to come out as one would expect. as they are more likely than not the reasons we do revisions. Failed previous RCT ( tooth on the left) was scheduled to be treated at another visit.
