Ever feel like you’re stuck in a loop of complaining, but you never actually feel any better?

Real talk: Trying to "stay positive" and suppress your frustration usually backfires. But letting that frustration take over your whole afternoon? That’s not helping you either.

We need a way to process the stress without falling into a rumination spiral.

Enter the "BMW" technique:

B : Bitch
M : Moan
W : Whine

Here’s how it works: When you’re feeling overwhelmed or annoyed, set a timer for exactly 5 minutes.

Give yourself full permission to vent. Be dramatic. Let it out. Don't "should" all over yourself about being negative: just let the BMW happen.

But when that timer dings, the venting is done.

We name it to tame it. Once the feelings are out in the open, your brain is much better equipped to move into problem-solving or a realistic plan of action.

Your brain doesn't need to be perfect; it just needs a release valve.

Have you ever tried a timed vent? It’s a game changer for keeping the "Ferrari brain" from spinning out.

You didn’t just survive the week: you navigated it.

We often think resilience is about the giant mountains we climb, but real strength is actually built in the small, quiet moments.

Maybe you finally opened that email you were avoiding.
Maybe you took five minutes to breathe when things got loud.
Maybe you were kind to yourself when you didn’t check everything off your list.

Resilience isn’t a finish line. It’s the practice of recognizing your own progress, no matter how tiny it feels. Those small wins are the bricks that build your foundation for the week ahead.

Don’t "should" all over yourself about what you didn’t get done. Instead, celebrate what you did.

What is one small win you’re claiming today? Name it to tame it in the comments below.

Ever feel like you’re stuck in a loop of correcting your child’s behavior all day?

It’s exhausting. And honestly? It rarely works the way we want it to: especially for our neurodivergent kids.

Here’s a shift: You can’t correct a brain that doesn’t feel safe or connected.

When we lead with correction, we often trigger shame or defensiveness. But when we lead with connection, we build the safety needed for actual change.

Think of it like this: Connection is the bridge. Correction is the cargo. You can't send the cargo if the bridge is down.

Next time things get heated:
Stop.
Breathe.
Connect first.

Validate their feelings. Get on their level. Name it to tame it.

Once they feel seen and supported, the "teaching" part becomes a lot easier.

Connection isn’t "giving in." It’s giving them the emotional regulation they need to actually hear you.

How do you prioritize connection on the hard days? Let me know below.

Ever feel like you’re running a race on a track that keeps getting longer?

That whisper of "I'm not enough" isn't a fact: it's a narrative. Most of the time, it's a story we started writing a long time ago to make sense of worlds or systems that weren't built for our brains.

If you've been "shoulding" all over yourself lately, stop for a second. That inner critic is usually just a part of you trying to keep you safe from rejection, but it's using a map that doesn't fit who you are today.

Healing starts when we "name it to tame it." When that voice pops up, try saying: "I see you, old narrative. Thanks for trying to protect me, but I'm practicing self-compassion today."

You aren't broken. You're human, navigating a complex world. You've always been enough.

How do you talk back to your inner critic? Let’s share some tools below.

ADHD brains don’t reset on command — especially after a heavy week.
Needing a softer landing doesn’t mean you failed; it means your ADHD brain is conserving energy.

Time blindness is real. For an ADHD brain, "five minutes" can feel like an eternity or a blink.

Visual timers help you "see" time passing, taking the pressure off your executive function. You aren’t broken; you just need better tools.

If slowing down makes your body feel more alert instead of relaxed, this is happening because your nervous system learned that stillness wasn’t safe.
Nothing is wrong with you — your body is responding the way it was taught to survive.

Struggling to start? You don’t need more discipline, you might just need a body double. 🤝

Body doubling is simply having someone nearby while you work. It grounds your ADHD brain and makes the "boring" stuff feel doable.

Do less, start with less. Who is your go-to partner?

Motivation doesn’t come first for ADHD brains. Action does.

Ever feel like your body is suddenly reacting to the past? That’s a trauma trigger. It’s not an overreaction: it’s your brain’s alarm system sensing a "threat" that reminds it of a past wound. Your brain is trying to keep you safe. Be gentle with yourself today. 🤍

Feeling calm isn’t always the same as feeling safe.
Sometimes your nervous system goes quiet because that was the safest option at one point.
Nothing is wrong with you — this is a protective response, not a failure.

Ever feel like your instructions go in one ear and out the other? 👂💨

It’s usually not that they aren’t listening. It’s that their brain just hit a "system overload."

When we say "Get ready for school," an ADHD brain hears a mountain of tasks: find socks, brush teeth, pack bag, put on shoes. It’s too much at once, and the result is usually shutdown or distraction.

Try the Single-Step Rule instead.

Give one (and only one) instruction at a time.

Instead of "Get ready for school," try:
👉 "Put your shoes on."

Wait for it to happen. Then:
👉 "Now, grab your backpack."

Breaking it down removes the overwhelm and gives them a win. Small steps lead to big progress. Give it a try this morning and see the difference!
