When performing a breast augmentation, it is important to prevent excessive touching of the implant to reduce the chance of infection or damaging the implant. But how is that done?

Fat grafting is a surgical procedure by which fat cells are transferred from one area of the body to another with the goal of contouring and adding volume. This can be used for both cosmetic and reconstructive purposes, such as breast cancer reconstruction.

The fat is extracted through liposuction, processed, then reinjected into the area of concern or needed enhancement.

Dr. Kotick is one of the few surgeons in Florida who performs this breast cancer reconstruction procedure using a woman’s abdominal skin and fat to reconstruct a breast. The abdominal tissue can be used to create a natural-looking breast without implants.
