Architect, illustrator, graphic designer, exhibit designer, author and educator - Charlotte Ricker is a true Renaissance Woman. In addition to acquiring a Bachelors of Architecture and an MFA in Illustration, she has completed certificates in botanical illustration, natural science illustration, children’s book writing, graphic design and web design in order to hone her visual communication skills and maximize her impact in the world. Extensive study of wildlife, zoological and botanical subject matter has allowed her to describe nature with accuracy and from a place of deeper understanding. As an avid outdoorswoman and world traveler, Charlotte has a deep love and appreciation for the beauty and complexity of nature and she enjoys narrating its miraculous stories through illustration and the written word. She has had the privilege of creating conceptual illustrations, graphics and large-scale murals for interactive exhibits in zoos and nature preserves. She is currently working on a series of children’s books that inspires kids to explore and connect with nature, empowering them to become stewards of the land and engaged activists. Charlotte often applies her observations of the mathematics and order of nature to her creations, and her whimsical imagery is inspired by the structures and patterns found in the natural world. Charlotte teaches botanical illustration at the Denver Botanic Gardens and enjoys sharing her knowledge and process with others. She has taught both on-ground and online courses in art foundations, illustration and interior design, guiding aspiring artists and designers to envision and manifest their dreams. She has also served as a volunteer trip leader and assistant instructor for the Colorado Mountain Club’s Wilderness Trekking and Basic Mountaineering Schools, where she was able to share her knowledge of nature and science with those interested in exploring the wilderness safely and mindfully. She has also served as a troop leader for Girl Scouts of America, leading camping trips and educating inner city kids about plants and animals, encouraging them to appreciate and protect our planet. As a teacher of yoga and meditation, Charlotte strives to live a conscious and authentic life. Her classes encourage others to come to their mat, push through their limitations and meet the world on the other side as their true, authentic selves so they may contribute to a healthy, sustainable community. Charlotte resides in Denver, Colorado and can often be found exploring the world, conducting research for her art.
