Top 4️⃣ Reasons you might not be feeling any better on thyroid medication!
1. Poor conversion - you need to convert T4 to T3 and adequate nutrition is key!! This can be done through either through food or supplements.
2. Stress - nothing really matters when you’re stressed! Ensuring your cortisol is balanced is a MUST to anyone feeling good, particularly thyroid patients
3. Gut Health - even if you think your gut health is good, thyroid patients often times have altered gut bacteria leading to dysbiosis and overgrowth. This can change absorption of your medication and nutrients.
4. Too much thyroid medication - adding more thyroid medication doesn’t often leave people feeling better. It can actually make them feel worse.
What can you do about it?
- get a full thyroid, lab panel, checking TSH, total T4, free T4, free T3 and reverse T3.
- work on stress management and consider a adrenal/cortisol saliva panel to make sure your levels are balanced.
- work on your gut health with fermented food and probiotics, ensuring you are going daily 💩, and allowing 3 to 4 hours between meals. Always recommend doing a stool sample (GI MAP) to make sure you don’t have an h.pylori infection or dysbiosis.
- don’t keep up in your medication without knowing your full thyroid panel and lab levels.
