🚨 Supplement Recall Alert: Moringa & Salmonella Risk

Moringa is commonly used by breastfeeding mothers to help boost milk supply—but a recent FDA recall highlights an important safety concern.

⚠️ What was recalled:

Rosabella-brand moringa capsules

White bottles with green label

Expiration dates in 2027

👉 See table here for a complete list of affected lot numbers and expiration dates:
https://www.fda.gov/food/outbreaks-foodborne-illness/outbreak-investigation-extensively-drug-resistant-salmonella-moringa-powder-february-2026 %20Product%20Information

🦠 Why it matters:
These products were recalled due to Salmonella contamination, which can cause:
Diarrhea
Fever
Abdominal cramps

Symptoms typically begin 12–72 hours after exposure and may last 4–7 days.
Young children, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems are at higher risk for severe illness.

InfantRisk perspective:
Moringa is often perceived as a “natural” way to support milk supply—but this recall is a reminder that supplements are not risk-free, especially during breastfeeding.

Saw a new article from the InfantRisk Center and wanted to share a simple takeaway: the biggest thing to watch isn’t the drug itself, it’s making sure you’re eating enough, staying hydrated, and getting nutrients while breastfeeding.

If you’re not hungry or eating much, your milk supply could drop, or your milk might not have all the nutrients your baby needs. You might also feel tired, lightheaded, or irritable and dehydration alone can impact milk production.

So the real focus is fueling yourself. Your body needs calories, fluids, and nutrients to take care of you and your baby.

Not because she’s too fragile
but because she’s carrying more than you can see.

Breastfeeding is a full-body, full-heart job.
It’s not just milk.
It’s hormones shifting, emotions rising,
nights blending into mornings.

It’s prolactin keeping her alert.
It’s estrogen staying low,
which can mean lower energy, lower desire,
higher sensitivity, deeper exhaustion.

She’s not being “too emotional.”
She’s not “back to normal.”
She’s responding to her baby.
She’s still rebuilding herself.

She might feel invisible.
She might not have the words.
But she still needs to be held.
Still needs care.
Still deserves softness.

If she’s still breastfeeding,
she’s still in postpartum.
Love her like it.
Love her harder 🩷
