Those wrestlers last week? Yeah, they moved on and are going this week at regionals. Good luck to Griffin and Tegun as they continue their runs to Ford Field!

We have had some questions lately about this...

Yes! You can do this with dry needling!

No! It is not common!

No! Techniques used should not do this!

No! Not all dry needling is the same as far as techniques, conditions, and protocols that are taught!

PR&R therapists undergo training from the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy (AAMT), which was heavily influenced by figures like:

Dr. Stanley Paris, organizer of the efforts to start the orthopedic section of the APTA and founding member of IFOMPT.

Dr. Richard Erhard: created the AAOMPT.

Dr. James Dunning: leading educator for AAMT and advocate for dry needling and osteopractic physical therapy.

Please understand that this incident is not the norm with a very safe and practical procedure. It is meant to relieve pain, release adhesions, and increase mobility. If you are worried about the procedure from a physical therapist or any practictioner, you are well within your rights to ask where that certification came from and do some research into what that organization teaches their clinicians. If the clinican does not feel comfortable sharing, then you might want to try something or someone else.

Give us a call with any other questions, or you can even ask on our page.

Physical Therapists and Athletic Trainers are required to complete continuing education every two years—but at Prime, we go well beyond those requirements. We continuously expand our skills, techniques, and treatment methods to better reduce pain, improve function, and help you move with confidence.
