After school, he dedicated his career as an Engineer for Delco-Remy a Division of General Motors in Anderson, but his true passion lay in the skies. For 55 years, Bob lived his dream as a pilot and flight instructor, becoming well-known in Madison and Delaware County for igniting a love of aviation in young people. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he spent 12 wonderful years with Young Eagles, encouraging kids to spread their wings and take flight.

Robert was known for his passion for gardening, particularly his tomatoes, and his dedication to maintaining a beautiful lawn. He found joy in the great outdoors, often spending time on his front porch with a cold beer, grilling with family, or engaging in spirited conversations about NASCAR as a diehard Dale Earnhardt fan. Robert cherished the moments he spent with his grandsons, whether they were building model cars or fishing together. He also enjoyed the challenge of crossword puzzles, often finding solace and satisfaction in completing them.

He was a 1971 graduate of Pendleton Heights High School and a Vincennes University graduate. Jon was a NRA Lifetime member; member of the Danville Conservation Club where he served as a range instructor, member of Fall Creek Bass Masters and the United Auto Workers Union. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved deer hunting, elk hunting in Colorado, turkey hunting and fishing. A car enthusiast, Jon enjoyed attending car shows with his 1934 Chevy Hot Rod and enjoyed restoring Corvettes.
