They get more power when we collectively give into the fear. So often I feel helpless in the face of all of this calamity, but we can fight back.

Fight back with a regulated nervous system.

Fight back by raising kids who are emotionally intelligent, responsible, confident human beings who care about other humans.

There is a lot of crazy stuff in the news right now, and my temptation is to get all wrapped up in all the juiciest conspiracies but I find my nervous system is screaming at me to just stop.

It’s such a difficult line for me to balance because I WANT to be informed, I WANT to know the truth, and I WANT to speak up for what’s right.

But I also have to remember that I was never meant to carry all of this. I wasn’t meant to know about every evil thing that happens in this world. My heart can’t handle it all. Our grandmothers didn’t have to sort through knowing as much as we do.

So where are you with all of this? How do you balance wanting to know, but also knowing that it’s just too much sometimes?
