Many thanks to the team from B.E.S.T. (Birth Emergency Skills Training), along with Border Area Midwives, UNM, and NMSU for facilitating and supporting a great training for community midwives this weekend!
We honed some familiar skills and learned a few fascinating new ones, too! And, the team brought models that allowed us to create and practice our way through realistic scenarios.
Every provider who attends birth needs to be able to manage and stabilize emergency situations, even if those situations are infrequent. This is particularly vital for those who provide care in rural settings and ever-increasing maternity care deserts in the United States.
