UPDATED FLYER *date change*

Dia de los Inocentes🕯️

This virtual grief circle honors the lives of babies, children, and pregnancies lost - whether recently or long ago. Rooted in the cultural traditions of Día de los Inocentes, it offers a gentle, guided space to remember, grieve, and create in community. Whether you’re a parent, relative, or community member touched by loss, you are welcome here.

Together, we’ll reflect on personal and collective grief, explore simple ways to create altars or ofrendas, and choose between two creative paths: a virtual altar-making session or a guided writing ritual. We’ll close with quiet reflection and optional sharing in community.

What to Bring:
A candle (optional)
A photo or item to represent your loss (optional)
Paper and pen
Your presence, just as you are

Language & Accessibility🗣️
This circle will be held in Spanglish, with cultural context shared in both English and Spanish when appropriate. All are welcome, including bilingual and Spanglish-speaking participants. A slide show will be available for visual learners.

Hosted by

Capacity is limited so please RSVP via linktree, website or eventbrite.

Wave of Light🕯

Join us on October 15th, 6–8 PM at Obodo Farm for a gentle evening of remembrance and community. Together, we will honor the Wave of Light—a worldwide movement to remember infants and babies gone too soon. Pregnancy loss families, partners and support persons are welcomed and encouraged to attend.

The evening will include a guided activity, a candlelight vigil, and an open space to share, reflect, and connect. This gathering will hold space for grief, love, and healing in community.

This event is donation-based and open to all who wish to come together in remembrance and support. Anyone desiring to donate can do so in person at the event or beforehand through our website donation page.

1 in 4 people experience pregnancy loss. #1 in 7 experience infertility or difficulty conceiving (including ).
1 in 175 experience stillbirth, the same rate of babies who die in the 1st year of life in the US.

But we (& our babies) are more than numbers. Many of us who steward the mission at Heart & Sol are loss parents. We have shared our experiences with each other, in community, in blogs or on podcasts & have allowed our losses to inform how we serve our community. Supportive community is where our grief can be witnessed & our stories can help others feel seen. For example, .a.y._and_m.e spoke on about her twin pregnancy loss due to complications of Hyperemesis Gravidarum shortly after her losses & shared this year on her socials, with nuance & vulnerability, her experience with

Part of our mutual aid offerings include loss doula scholarships so local families can get the support they need to navigate unthinkable loss, whether that loss happened yesterday or a few years ago. We all deserve the space to grieve & honor our babies.

This year we moved our anniversary party to September so we could create space to host multiple loss centered events we have been longing to offer. We are looking forward to sharing space with other loss parents at our upcoming gatherings this month. You are not alone.

In the meantime, here are some loss resources (locally & otherwise) you may find helpful:

If you would like to share any accounts that speak to infertility, pregnancy loss, stillbirth or infant loss, please put them in the comments.

Rooted in Purpose Honorees🌳🤲🏿

This year marks 5 years for us an organization & 5 year anniversaries are represented by wood🪵. Wood is durable, a sign of growth, with deep roots.

When thinking about who we wanted to highlight & thank in our community this year, we looked to the OGs. Birth work in general has a high burn out rate due to secondary trauma & the large emotional demands of this sacred role, with the average doula lasting less than 3yrs in the field. However this year’s honorees have been around for at least 10yrs, serving as pillars in the birth-work community within Clark County.

has served as a doula, midwife, educator & legislative advocate for families & perinatal professionals in Nevada for more than 15+ years!

just celebrated her 10 year anniversary of running the Human Milk Donation Depot (1 of 2 in all of Clark County) & has 17yrs of experience in the field as an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) & advocate.

has served as a doula, educator & midwife for a decade. 10 years ago, she was one of only a few birthworkers in the community who was Spanish speaking in the Valley.

Some of us entered the field with them a decade ago & we have loved watching their evolutions. Those newer to birthwork, are grateful to learn from their invaluable experiences & wisdoms. The seeds they planted along the way are now sturdy trees families & colleagues can find respite under.

We are grateful for all they do to protect, steward & transform reproductive health in our community!

Hispanic | Latine | Latinx | Latina/o

With MX’s historic ‘El Grito’ celebracion being led for the 1st time by a woman (Presidente Claudia Sheinbaum) it feels like we’re off to a strong start this month! Phrases like capture the spirit of what it means to be Latina/o in the US. We are resilient, we lead movements, we stand with & for la cultura (see: Los Angeles).

We influence culture as the largest ethnic group in the US & are the biggest contributors to the US economy. We are more likely to be entrepreneurs than the general population & are the 2nd largest voting group in the country. ¡Juntas somos poderosas!

Even when there is the threat of mass deportations & violence targeting our people & communities, we rally together to help support, educate & care for our neighbors. Locally, we have some amazing orgs & people representing & doing the work.

Whether you speak Spanish, Portuguese, an Indigenous language or are a ‘No Sabo kid’, we see you & honor your Latinidad.

While this month is widely known in the US as Hispanic heritage month, we recognize that not everyone identifies with the term Hispanic. The Latina/o identity is complex and extremely diverse, encompassing heritage from Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa (including Indigenous & Brazilian peoples). Hispanic was a term coined during the Kennedy administration to include citizens whose heritage was from Latin America (specifically countries/ peoples who were colonized by Spain) in the US census.
