Mission statement: MGB-OAGB Writers Group (MOWG):
Friends

Please find attached to latest Draft of our paper:

Of course any and all edits you suggest are welcome.

We have created an online collaborative editorial, discussion and writing group

This one of the first papers that follows the path of last years letter to the editor

We invited more than 100 surgeons and interact in real time online as the paper goes from the draft phase to completion

It is difficult but rewarding

attached are some of the many other projects that are underway as well as some other links to more about the groups efforts

====================================

Mission statement: MGB-OAGB Writers Group (MOWG):

MGB-OAGB Writers Group
mission exists to improve the care and treatment of weight problems and metabolic diseases by:
Identifying important questions related the health and care of metabolic illness,

MGB-OAGB Writers Group (MOWG)

Initial Process Outline (Please edit or comment)

1. Identifying questions and topics that are problems in the care and treatment of metabolic diseases

2. Investigate, research and comment and publish these identified problems, diseases and treatments

3. Engage in spirited but polite discussion and collaboration on the topics

4. In cases in which ideas suggestions and possible truths or questions are identified

5. Team will be created to proceed with possible publication in mind

6. The collaboration will occur in email, on the Slack software platform
(Slack will be used to increase communication and collaboration as well as to facilitate project management)

7. If agreed upon that the question bears further dissemination & publication, Question Leaders will move the project to an online draft manuscript formation using Google Docs

8. The The project leader will then invite editorial and authorial input from interested members of the group

9. Comments will be accepted but the decision of the paper/publication will be determined only and ultimately by each question leaders.
(This is necessary from experience as might occur when two opposite opinions are held by members or groups with in the MOWG)

10. In general to facilitate publication a timeline of approximately 10 days per updated manuscript versions will be enforced by Rutledge/Kular/Manchanda to address delays in moving forward to publication time frames

11. Group participation will be as follows:
First Authors: Question primary leaders and contributors
Co-author: members contributing significantly to the paper’s content and management
Members: mentioned and offered thanks and recognition for contributions in the manuscript but not meeting strict authorship standard

12. Initiation of the paper submission process
(This is a demanding process as the authors in the group knows, here members can gain authorship recognition by working closely with the first authors on the hard work of publication preparation, revision and final publication efforts)

13. Publication/Celebration and on to the next question
What are rules of engagement in MGB-OAGB Writers Group (MOWG)?
These are the practices followed and the behavior to be displayed by the members in activities of the organization. Rules of engagement determine what information is given, at what time, to whom, and in what manner; and what concession is granted and what is required in return.

In short, Be Nice, Don’t Be Evil.

Congratulations to EVERYONE

We created a unique collaborative group of over 100 surgeons worldwide and edited and are about to publish a ground breaking study with 23 world renown authors and co-authors.

Again my congratulations!

Now 23 authors/coauthors is a bit much.

We are excited and rely upon the mass of the team of surgeons interested and enthusiastically questioning everything I write ;-)

But we are considering setting rough limit of about 10 co-authors per paper

But don’t worry we have a lot of papers in the hopper

Take a look at the upcoming list of papers below and you can put you name in as one of the first 10 co-authors!

We will also allow for 5 alternate spots for the case where someone loses interest or drops out

Rough Draft #4
Bilio-Pancreatic Limb Length is Accurately Predicts Weight Loss After One Anastomosis Gastric Bypass Performed Using the “Mini-Gastric Bypass” Using the “Original Technique” (MGBOT)

Abstract
The One Anastomosis Gastric Bypass (OAGB) has been recognized by the IFSO (international Federation of Surgery of Obesity) and it is being widely adopted around the world excluding the United States for obvious reasons. Notably the technical details of the newly christened OAGB have been quite variable. In particular there has been a growing body of surgeons calling for the Bilio-pancreatic limb length (BPLL) to be limited to 150 centimeters. The purpose of this study was to analyze association between the tailored BPLL use in OAGB performed using the Mini-Gastric Bypass Original Technique (MGBOT) of Rutledge to 10 year weight loss. In short the results showed a strong and consistent association between the tailored BPLL and patient 10 year weight loss. ...
