⚠️❗️TODAY is the LAST DAY to have your voice be heard! Your input is vital regarding Medicaid’s proposed changes to the scope of services provided by ABA practitioners, specifically their inclusion of ADLs, IADLs, mobility aids, and safety awareness. ⚠️❗️
Your feedback will help Medicaid understand how these changes may affect patient care and to emphasize the value of our profession in addressing functional skills comprehensively. As occupational therapy practitioners, we are uniquely trained to address ADLs and IADLs holistically—integrating physical, cognitive, sensory, and psychosocial considerations. It is essential to communicate how OT services differ from those provided by ABA practitioners and why this distinction matters for patient outcomes. We know -we- are the ADL & IADL experts!
We encourage you to think about:
❗️ How your education and training prepared you to address ADLs and IADLs related tasks safely and effectively.
❗️ Positive experiences working with ABA providers, where collaboration enhanced patient outcomes, but with collaboration vs. ABA's lens 'only'.
❗️ Limitations or potential risks you foresee if ABA practitioners are permitted to address ADLs and IADLs independently.
