✨ Calling In the Sunfolk Village ✨
Family, we’ve got a mama who just brought her baby earthside a week ago. She’s in that waiting period for WIC and SNAP to process, and she needs formula to get through these next few days.

And let me be clear — this is exactly why I’m building community around Sunfolk.
Because in our circle, babies don’t go hungry and mamas are never left to figure it out alone.
We don’t wait for someone else to fix it.
We move. We cover each other.

Baby has no milk allergies, so any brand works.
Pick-up or drop-off — whatever’s easiest for you.

If you can offer a can or two, DM or text 702-803-8536.

Let’s show her, in real time, what a held and supported postpartum looks like. 💛

My Blessing of the Hands ceremony was this past weekend — a rite of passage for a Black Midwife stepping out of student hood and into herself as a midwife. I’m still processing all the emotions and the love poured back into me.

It means so much to be witnessed and celebrated. Five years ago, life was different & difficult, and somehow I found space. Each one of these people in this photo and some who were there in spirit have impacted me in quiet, powerful ways —from check-ins, to “now girl” when I was eyeing additional courses, to the random calls from doulas seeking advice that helped me feel valid and capable. I’m so thankful to be a part of our birth community.

I have so much gratitude express to the woman who guided and lit my path: My mom, Cassie, Jollina, Amariee, Aunti Toni, Mama Selena. I’m who I am because each of them showed up and poured a little bit of themselves into me. 💖

🌞 Welcome to Sunfolk Midwifery 🌞

I’m Jacinta, a community midwife here in Las Vegas. I started Sunfolk for folks who want care that’s grounded, personal, and deeply respectful—especially those who’ve ever felt unseen or dismissed. Whether you’re preparing for birth, moving through postpartum, or just wanting care that feels like care, you belong here.

At its heart, Sunfolk is about intentional presence—a space where you can hold and be held by people who truly see you. My hope is that every client feels support that pours into them, acknowledgment they can sense, and care that vibrates with real love and recognition. That’s how I show up, and that’s the kind of community I want to build.

This photo is of me and my daughter back in 2018, our first time at the pool in a long while. I remember the sun, but mostly I remember her warmth as she curled up on me—safe enough to doze off, both of us just being. That’s what lineage means to me: those everyday moments of comfort and presence that get passed down and shared.

A lot of the families I work with are also thinking about tradition and lineage—honoring what’s come before, but also imagining new ways to care for each other. My role in all this is to offer presence, care, and connection—sometimes that’s hands-on, and sometimes it’s pointing you toward the right support for your journey. My hope is that Sunfolk is a place where you feel held and guided, and where those connections keep growing even after our time together.

I want Sunfolk to grow into more than just a midwifery practice. My vision is for it to become a bridge to a true village—a space where families connect, support flows freely, and community is lived, not just talked about.

I’ll be sharing updates, resources, and little windows into this work as things grow. However you found your way here—thank you for being part of the village.

With care,
Jacinta

Yesterday, after witnessing the magic of a twin homebirth, I went to an event solely to support other birth community members. The Irth App was hosting an event with Karen Derrico as the special guest.

They were having a panel and needed a doula - I could’ve sat out and let the other (non-local) doulas fill in but the birth homies were encouraging me not to. So I did it, and it was pretty awesome. The nerves/anxiety kicked in after I spoke on the panel..I’m still processing how I managed to get through it without fumbling. I showed up 100% me with my passion for birth work, black families and better healthcare systems.

Im very thankful to be apart of this community, and to be encouraged to own my confidence out loud~ in public.

You know when people have those questions like “what’s something you could talk about for 30 mins on command?” My answer is the future of midwifery care.

That’s how I spent the first inaugural Black Midwives day. By speaking on what I know and what I imagine for the future. I can definitely say I rambled a lot but hopefully people got the intention.

In celebrating myself and all other black midwives-I’m going to shoutout fellow local black midwives:
Jerah
Liah
Jollina, Carol, and Faith. 🤎
