get out of your comfort zone

how many times have you looked at something in your fridge and been like ā€œthat sounds grossā€ as if it magically placed itself in there without your knowledge.

YOU BOUGHT IT.

I have been talking a lot about my journey of breaking through overconsumption and part of that is trying to eat what I have at home.

its been stirring up a lot of feelings and revealing how much of my life has been dictated by my wants and not my needs.

it’s giving Ariana Grande 7 Rings energy. Which don’t get me wrong, is an energy we’re still keeping aroundšŸ’šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø. But I’m practicing being more mindful of when and where she comes out

I have found that forcing myself to look through a lens of wants vs needs has actually given me more freedom and peace of mind. I’m not always searching for my next recipe dopamine hit.

it’s brought a sense of stability I didn’t realize I was missing.

it almost felt like I was searching for more ā€œwantsā€ to ignore having to face the truths of my ā€œneedsā€

and I will say facing a hard truth of divorce will have you cracked open and ready to face things šŸ˜Ž. It’s like ā€œwell, I’m already here so we might as well face all the other things we got going onā€

And there is something very honest, hard, but also peaceful about it. But I have to catch myself, because my squirrel brain will be like ā€œandddddd now we should get back to rollerskatingā€ 🤪

we live in such a high stimulating world- it’s easy to bring in noise (aka distractions aka mini dopamine hits) wherever we can. And add in life stressors and those dopamine hits feel like a nice clean oil to your revving engine of a mind.

take a look at your pantry/fridge and see how many things you ca make! Make it fun, make it a challenge!

maybe metabolism works differently at Hogwarts…

but here, our bodies are so much more complex

and if we’re being for real, when has ā€œburning that cheat mealā€ ever actually gotten you to your goals….

so maybe we break down these toxic mindsets one step at a time.
1. A cheat meal is a whack (and not effective) excuse for you to dismiss your everyday portion sizes. In reality, if you thought about your macros, you could incorporate your favorite foods intentionally and not feel the need to ā€œcheatā€

2. Burning off a meal is not how your metabolism works. The way you breathe, eat, sleep, move, rest, recover allllll play in to how your body processes, utilizes, and stores energy. So you’re better off finding balance in the whole system then trying to hyperfocus on one aspect.

3. What’s the goal here? Cuz we’re walking a wild line to some disordered eating traits here, sista. If the goal is healthy fat loss (emphasis on healthy) then re-examine points 1 & 2 and let’s approach it in a soft girl era mindset

slow, steady, mindful, and intentional is the name of the game

cueing lunges in a different way hoping it brings more clarity the next time you’re in the gym!

every time i correct lunges I immediately hear ā€œoh, that’s a lot harderā€

lol yeah, that’s the point. you want to adjust the body so you’re creating that resistance…not avoiding it!

know your limit, work within your range, and start slow!

sometimes balance feels like a trigger word 🫨

wanting balance and making choices towards balance are very different things.

all the fitfluencers you see saying ā€œyou can still eat all the foods you likeā€ they aren’t wrong. but you gotta work for the balance.

You gotta be open minded to recognizing the patterns and behaviors that aren’t the healthiest and be willing to adjust them

the fitness lifestyle you want is yours for the taking
so go take it.

so glad I got up to Mt Charleston for some fall colors. It’s always crazy to know that beautiful mountain is just 45 min away from our daily desert life

getting nature, strength, cardio, community, fresh air, and closed rings all by 10am is the recipe for a perfect day

because it’s important to understand what adding fitness to your lifestyle really means.

It shouldn’t be stressful.
it should add value, energy, confidence, etc.
