Amidst the recent COVID-19 outbreak, we’ve seen firsthand the importance of supporting a healthy immune system. Proper nutrition is a cornerstone of a “health-first” strategy and essential vitamins and minerals, like Vitamin C, are highly efficient ways to support your daily health and wellness.
While all the gyms are closed and most of you are sedentary, it’s a good time to focus on your eating habits, you need a deficit in either caloric intake or activity or both to lose body fat. Since I’m doubting most of you are doing much in the area of exercise because of lack of knowledge, motivation, lack of equipment, feeling out of your element etc.
It’s crucial that you put focus on your daily eating habits during this downtime. It is not uncommon to gain 10-15 pounds in 4-6 weeks if you keep your caloric intake the same as it was when you were working out 3 days per week. For example: It takes a deficit of 3500 calories to lose one pound of fat, on the opposite spectrum it also takes an excess of 3500 calories to put on one pound of fat. This is not hard to accomplish when you order take out, stress eat and add cookies, ice cream and other junk food to your daily diet. To lose fat during this time it’s a smart idea to reduce your daily caloric intake by 500, that’s a loss of one pound of fat per week. If you don’t know how many calories you are eating in a day, that’s where I would recommend that you start. At this time the rule of calories in vs calories out apply!
These are general guidelines of course and may vary depending on your specific body type, matabolism, hormone imbalances etc.
Hope this helps you in some way during these crazy and unpredictable times.
Yours in health and fitness and nutrition:)
