Spending time with him is so fun. I love how he still wants to sit on my lap and will let me kiss him. We went to the coolest event tonight. An outdoor circus always finds the coolest things to do. Not pictured is Audrey, who hates it when I take pictures of her.

Sometimes as I hug and hold my kids, my mind wanders, and I think about my Oma at age 16 (Evan’s current age) going to a concentration camp for the next 4 years and how difficult it is for me even to let my mind think about it. I've ignored it a lot and just recently have been trying to research and understand the atrocities that happened there. Many kids Oliver and Audrey's age were in camps as well. The following photos are from Tjdeng Camp, where my cousin spent many years. It's hard for me to imagine putting Oliver to bed in one of those beds. What would I tell him as I'm tucking him into bed, scared it may be the last time I see him. The horror and thoughts that must have been going through those Moms' minds cause so much anxiety in me-my ancestors were there. I'm so grateful for my life, my kids, and where I live. It's important to remember and learn about history. Today on the Holocaust Remembrance Day it's my yearly reminder to do better, be better, and live mindfully.
