There’s something deeply grounding about being held in sound…
The gentle resonance of singing bowls, the subtle vibrations moving through the body, the invitation to simply be.

As we move through a season that can feel heavy and fast-paced, this hour is an opportunity to slow down, soften, and reconnect—with your breath, your body, and your inner stillness.

Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, in need of rest, or simply curious about sound healing, this space is for you.

Come as you are.
Leave a little lighter. 💫

Mixed Media Collage — The Layers of Becoming
March 22, 2026, 1:00-3:30
The Shakti Place

Collage invites us into a different kind of listening.
Instead of beginning with a blank canvas, we begin with fragments — colors, textures, words, images, and pieces of paper that already hold stories.

In many ways, collage mirrors our own lives. We are not made from a single experience or identity. We are layered beings — shaped by memory, relationships, loss, hope, creativity, and the quiet wisdom gathered along the way.

Through tearing, arranging, layering, and assembling, collage allows us to explore what is emerging within us. Sometimes the images choose us before we understand why. Sometimes unexpected pieces find their way together and form a truth we didn’t know we were carrying.

Next week, we will explore the art of assembling meaning from fragments — allowing intuition, curiosity, and play to guide the process.

Week 2 of the Expressive Art Series was beautiful!

Six brave and curious humans gathered to explore clay and containment, using their hands to shape clay into structures and vessels that hold meaning, memory, and intention. Watching each person slow down, sink into the creative process, and bring something deeply personal into form was powerful.

Art has a way of opening doors that words sometimes cannot.

I’m grateful for the courage, honesty, and presence each participant brought into the room, and I can’t wait to see what unfolds in the weeks ahead.

(George 🐾 and Onah 🐾enjoyed being little helpers!)

Yesterday we gathered at The Shakti Place for our first Expressive Arts Workshop, and something really special unfolded in that room.

Four brave, open-hearted women showed up willing to explore their inner landscapes through color, movement, and creativity. The courage, vulnerability, and authenticity that emerged was beautiful to witness.

Spaces like this remind me why The Shakti Place exists — to create room for reflection, creativity, and healing.

Thank you for trusting the process and for bringing your whole hearts into the space. 🎨✨

I’m honored to share that I was featured in Sunday’s Lawrence Journal-World. ✨

The piece highlights my path to becoming a therapist, the heart behind my work, and the incredible role this community has played in supporting healing spaces like Integrative Therapy Services, The Shakti Place, and Loving Paws.

I’m grateful to do this work and thankful to the Journal-World for sharing the story.🫶🏻

One Year.

One year ago tonight
I held her for the last time.

The last night we fell asleep together. The last time I felt her breathing against my cheek. The last morning I woke up and she was still here.

Tomorrow marks a year since she died in my arms.

I still don’t have words for that moment.
I don’t think I ever will.

There is a particular kind of silence that follows a soul dog leaving. It’s loud. It echoes. It lives in your body.

People say time helps.
Maybe it softens the sharp edges, but it doesn’t erase the imprint.

Shakti was my constant when everything else in my life was falling apart. She steadied me.
She saved me in ways I’m still uncovering.

I built so much of my life around her — and because of her.
And sometimes I still reach for her in the dark.

Grief is strange. Some days I can speak her name and smile.
Some days it knocks the air right out of me.

Tonight feels heavy.

If you’ve ever loved a dog like this, you know — they are not “just a dog.” They are home.

I miss you, Shakti.
I missed you yesterday.
I’ll miss you tomorrow.
I’ll miss you for the rest of my life. 💙🐾🌈🫶🏻✨

One year ago today, Shakti made her final therapy visits.

It was Valentine’s Day.
And in true Shakti fashion… she showed up in a fancy pink tutu- My Tutu Queen!!

That morning she made a special visit to an elementary school — greeting every child like they were the most important human in the world. Little hands buried in pink tulle. Giggles. Wide eyes. Nervous energy melting into smiles.

She moved from kiddo to kiddo with a steady, soulful presence that said, You are safe. You are seen. No rush. No ego. Just love.❤️

Later that day, she made a very special in-home visit. Quiet. Sacred. Deeply meaningful.

It was one of those moments where time slows down. Where she didn’t have to perform or impress. She simply WAS, offering a wordless comfort that only she could give. It was meaningful for the recipient… for her (and for me).

Shakti literally spent her final Valentine’s Day spreading love — in a tutu — to children and to someone who needed her in the most intimate way.

She gave love so effortlessly — not performative, not forced — just pure presence. That was her magic.

Valentine’s Day will never feel the same without her warm little body beside me. There is a palpable ache there.

But when I think about it… what a sacred way to spend your last Valentine’s Day on earth. Serving. Comforting. Healing. Being love. For all that and more, I have profound gratitude.

Shakti was the founding dog of the Loving Paws Animal Therapy Program. She was my queen & soul pup. She was a true heart-healer. She built a legacy in pink tulle and pure heart.

I see her everywhere….
in every therapy dog team that walks into an LMH hospital room, in every volunteer who says yes, in every child who remembers the dog who made them feel brave.

Today I honor my Shakti —
the dog who showed me what it means to love without reservation, who made Valentine’s Day sacred, and whose love is still moving effortlessly through this world.

Forever my Valentine. 💗🐾

There’s something sacred about creating a space where people can fall apart and come back together.

Brick. Bones. Art. Feathers. Crystals. A little whimsy.
A reminder that healing isn’t sterile — it’s human.

I love this office.
I love the stories held here.
And I deeply love the humans who trust me with theirs.

Your mental health matters.
And so does your nervous system, your grief, your joy, your anger, your becoming.

This space is for all of it.
