Disability Assistance, LLC

Disability Assistance, LLC I have been involved in this field for almost 20 years, having worked previously for SSA and for attorneys.

I am an ABPN board-certified psychiatrist, providing medication management and various therapy modalities to adult patients with numerous mental health conditions. We represent adults and children in their claims for Social Security and SSI disability benefits, from the initial application level (if needed) through the Appeals Council level.

Linked in the story, below, is an important side story - Israel is about to offer boosters to fully-vaccinated older patients. This supports what I said from the start of the pandemic and is being confirmed in the outbreaks we are seeing - vaccines do not confer a durable immunologic response, as the virus continues to mutate. The most recent studies (published late last month) shows a significant fall-off in protection over time, with maximum protection (from some, not all variants, and in some, not all patients) of about six months. Research must continue, and we need longitudinal data regarding adverse effects as well. Please continue wearing masks, sanitizing hands, and practice social distancing where possible. Our Governor's decision to block mask mandates in schools really should give everyone - especially parents - pause.

A pandemic of the novel coronavirus has now infected more than 197 million people worldwide and killed over 4.2 million of them.

An era comes to an end - I received a fully-favorable decision on my last Social Security Disability client. I flew up to Atlanta for the hearing - the day before orientation for my second year of medical school. 25 years in the world of SSA disability. Really looking forward to the next chapter, and loving medical school, despite its challenges. Here's hoping Hurricane Irma doesn't literally blow my school (FAU) away.

For those who may not know, I am approaching the end of my first year of medical school, at Florida Atlantic University's Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine, in Boca Raton, FL. A big step closer to becoming a doctor! I have not accepted any new disability clients for a while, and have one client left, whose hearing will (hopefully) be scheduled this summer. It has been an incredible journey, with this practice and with everyone I have met along the way. I thank all of you who have offered me your love and support.

I've had quite a few people contact me recently - especially NADR members - asking if I will be attending NADR's Atlanta conference later this month. I have been pursuing a Master's degree in Biology and Immunology, and am interviewing for medical school, so I am afraid my schedule is booked. I wish all of you the best, and if there is any way I can arrange to meet for drinks or something one night, I will certainly try to do that.

SSA will hold this year's examination for non-attorneys seeking fee withholding on 5/8/13 in Baltimore. Because the study sessions that I created and hosted each year for NADR received such tremendously positive feedback, I have decided to offer them independently.

I will offer a four-part series on 3/14, 3/21, 3/28, and 4/4, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm EST. Attendees will receive expanded materials a week prior to each session, and will have the opportunity to email me outside of the sessions for extended Q&A.

The cost for the sessions is $250.00 for NADR members, $350.00 for non-members. For information on registration and payment methods, interested non-attorney representatives should e-mail me at trisha@ssdisabilityassistance.com or call me at (404) 644-3865. Let me help you prepare for and pass that exam!

As the newly elected President of the National Association of Disability Representatives, it was my great pleasure to travel to Washington DC and Baltimore last week, to meet with Congressional and SSA staff on issues important to claimants and professional representatives.
