EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT🎉🎉🎉 Memorial Health System of Southwest Oklahoma is proud to share plans for the continued growth and transformation of its Southwest campus—a key part of the system’s long-term vision to strengthen healthcare access and services across the region.

As part of this transition, the Southwest campus will undergo renovations that will position it as a specialized hub for Women's and Children's care, a post-acute recovery center, and a variety of specialty outpatient services. Emergency services will remain fully operational at the Southwest campus, ensuring continued 24/7 access to emergency care for the community.

Inpatient medical and surgical services will be consolidated at the system’s main campus, allowing for more coordinated care, enhanced staffing coverage, and improved efficiency. This alignment enables Memorial Health System to strengthen service lines while ensuring patients receive the right level of care in the right setting.

As part of this realignment, post-acute inpatient recovery services currently located at McMahon Tomlinson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center will transition to the Memorial Health Southwest campus. This service supports patients who need additional time to recover following an illness, injury, surgery, or medical procedure and serves as a stepping stone between the hospital and home. Relocating these services to the Southwest campus allows for more centralized, hospital-connected care while also expanding long-term residential bed availability at the nursing and rehabilitation center.

Looking ahead, the Southwest campus is planned to become the future premier birthing center of Southwest Oklahoma. This vision includes expanded labor and delivery services and the relocation of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to the Southwest campus, creating a dedicated, family-centered environment for mothers and babies.

Following renovations, the Southwest campus will introduce an Ambulatory Surgery Center, offering outpatient surgical procedures designed for convenience, efficiency, and recovery-focused care.

“This transformation reflects our commitment to investing locally and planning for the future,” said Brent Smith, FACHE, CEO of Memorial Health System of Southwest Oklahoma. “By focusing each campus on its strengths, we are growing services, improving access, and building a stronger healthcare system for Southwest Oklahoma.”

We want to share an important update with our community regarding Women’s Services.

With CCMH and SWMC coming together as Memorial Health System of Southwest Oklahoma, we are working hard to strengthen care for families across our region. As part of this effort—and in response to the ongoing nursing shortage affecting hospitals nationwide—we’ve made a thoughtful, patient-focused decision to consolidate our Labor & Delivery services into one enhanced, centralized location.

The Southwest Campus has been significantly impacted by the nursing shortage, and bringing both teams together at the main campus allows us to ensure the highest level of safety, staffing, and support for moms and babies. This consolidation is not a closure—it’s a way to preserve, protect, and strengthen L&D services for the long term in our community.

You will continue to see the same trusted faces caring for you, now united as one more robust and fully supported Women’s Services team at the Memorial Health main campus.

As of December 5:
✨ For any obstetric emergency needs, please visit our main ER at 3401 W Gore Blvd.
✨ For prenatal tours, childbirth classes, or breastfeeding support, please visit our website www.memorialhealthswok.com or call/text 580-250-5253.

Thank you for trusting us with your care. Our commitment to the families of Southwest Oklahoma remains strong, and we look forward to continuing to support your healthcare needs at Memorial Health.

🌶Congratulations to Our Chili Cook-Off Champions!🌶

This week at SWMC, held our annual Chili Cook-Off. From the depths of simmering pots and secret spices, two champions emerged:

🥇 1st Place: Kari Garza, Administrator - Rumor has it, her husband may deserve an honorary award. We're still investigating whether it was a team effort or a spicy conspiracy.
🥈 2nd Place: Letha Clark, Manager, Health Information Management - If you ask for her secret ingredients, be ready to complete a release of information form. She claims her recipe is so confidential it's protected by HIPAA.

Thank you to everyone who participated! Your culinary skills made this event unforgettable.
