So extremely proud of my aunt ❤️🙏🏼!
She is inspirational & I can not wait to see what her future brings

After spending 7 years incarcerated, Ruthie knew reentering society wouldn’t be easy. But when she became a resident at Sunstone Life and connected with Life Learning Center, everything began to change.

Through the support and guidance, Ruthie started building the steady foundation she needed to get back on her feet and move forward as a productive member of society. Along the way, she rediscovered who she was and began identifying the barriers that once held her back, knocking them down one by one. From securing employment to removing tattoos tied to her past, getting professional clothing, and even obtaining car insurance, each step brought her closer to the life she wanted.

Now, she works with people who remind her of herself not long ago. Using her lived experience, she offers something powerful: understanding, encouragement and hope.

Her message to others returning home after incarceration is simple but powerful: Life Learning Center is a place where you can rebuild, find stability and rediscover your self-worth. “I gained self-esteem and self-respect. This program helped me create the foundation I needed for a new life,” Ruthie says.

Building a resume can feel overwhelming, especially if you’re starting over, changing careers, or reentering the workforce. The good news is it doesn’t have to be complicated.

Start with the basics:
• Your name and contact information
• A short summary of your strengths
• A list of skills you have
• Your work or volunteer experience
• Education or certifications

Remember things like volunteering, caregiving, community involvement, and training all count as experience.

A resume doesn’t have to be perfect. It just needs to show who you are and what you can bring to the table.

💛 If you need help building or updating your resume, feel free to reach out to me. I’m happy to sit down with you and help build it together. I can also peer review anything you would like!

The Pygmalion Effect:
Fun fact It comes from a Greek myth where Pygmalion believed so strongly in his creation that it eventually came to life basically an ancient metaphor for belief shaping reality.

This week I’ve been driving deeper into different theories that I think if you have children you should give this a thought.

Children often become who we believe they are.

When parents consistently expect the worst from a child, the child starts to live down to those expectations. When parents expect growth, effort, and goodness, children are more likely to rise to it. This is extremely important for those who are trying to end negative generational cycles 💓

Criminology:💭🙇
Did you know one of the biggest studies say that boys in general are more likely to engage in antisocial activities than girls?
Another example would that girls experience more incidents of sexual abuse & greater levels of emotional distress than boys.
I think about this often and question why, if we could understand a reasoning for this we could possibly change outcomes with this for our children.
Let me know your opinions!!!!

Drug dependence isn’t always what people think it is.

There are two very different forces that can keep someone stuck

🔹 Physical dependence
This is about the body. Someone continues using a substance to avoid painful or dangerous withdrawal symptoms.

🔹 Psychological dependence
This is about the mind. The person keeps using because they crave the relief, comfort, or pleasure the substance brings even when the consequences are heavy.

Here’s the part people are missing:
👉 You can struggle with psychological dependence even without physical withdrawal.
👉 And breaking free isn’t just about “willpower” it’s about healing what the substance was covering up.

Understanding this matters.
Compassion matters.
Education matters.

Because addiction isn’t a moral failure it’s a human struggle.
