🌱 There’s something deeply empowering about learning how to make your own herbal remedies 🤲🏻 especially the ones that have been trusted in kitchens and gardens for generations. 🌿

I’m excited to once again be offering my Fire Cider & Elderberry Syrup Workshop at the Berkshire Botanical Garden. In this hands-on make-and-take class, we’ll explore the history, folklore, and herbal benefits of these two beloved remedies while crafting them together from scratch.

Fire Cider is a bold, warming herbal tonic traditionally used to support digestion, circulation, and immune health, while Elderberry Syrup is a delicious and time-honored preparation many people keep on hand to help support the body during cold and flu season.

Participants will learn about the medicinal qualities of herbs, roots, berries, and spices while preparing their own Fire Cider and Elderberry Syrup to take home… along with the recipes and knowledge to continue making them for years to come.

Whether you’re a gardener, herbal enthusiast, or simply curious about natural remedies, this class is a beautiful way to deepen your connection with plants and traditional herbal wisdom.

If you love herbs, gardening, or learning traditional plant medicine, feel free to share this with a friend who might enjoy joining you or feel free to tag them in the comments so they don’t miss it.

There is something ancient about dried flowers bound by hand.
Before trends 🌹
Before algorithms 🌷
Before the word “Smudge” was used loosely and often without context.
Across cultures, smoke has long been a bridge… a visible prayer rising. While certain ceremonial smoke practices belong to specific Indigenous traditions and should be honored as such, many cultures have their own ways of working with aromatic plants for purification and blessing.

In Celtic lands… the ancestral soil of my Scottish and Irish lineage… Druids and folk practitioners burned Mugwort, Rosemary, and other herbs in rites… Saining is an ancient Scottish Highland practice of blessing, purifying, and protecting people, livestock, and homes from evil spirits that commonly involves using sacred water and smoke, particularly Juniper or Rowan, to cleanse spaces and banish negativity.

In parts of England, herbal fumigation was simply referred to as “Censing” or “Reeking” a space. In Italian folk tradition, protective herbs were burned or hung to guard the home from the Malocchio, the evil eye, blending Catholic and older agrarian customs into everyday devotion.
Smoke has always been about intention 🤲🏻

At The Enchanted Altar, we lovingly refer to our dried botanical bouquets as Herb Wands or Bundles… a gentle and respectful alternative term. Each bundle is sustainably grown, responsibly harvested, and hand-tied.

We believe in Honor through Stewardship… respecting origins, learning continuously, and working with ethical growers who approach the land with reverence.

May your space be clear.
May your spirit be steady.
May blessings find you easily.

There is a quiet moment every year when winter hasn’t fully left… but spring is already whispering its return.

We’re standing in one of the quiet doorways of the year… light is changing again, and somehow that always stirs something deeper in the heart than any clock ever could.

It’s a strange and tender stretch of time.
Not quite winter.
Not quite spring.
A threshold.

If your heart has been feeling a little heavy lately… or strangely hopeful at the same time… you’re not alone.
The light is returning. Slowly. Faithfully.
And maybe we are too.

Early Tuesday morning, tomorrow, March 3rd, the Moon will turn red.

A Total Lunar Eclipse during the Full Worm Moon. On a Tuesday… ruled by Mars. While Mercury moves retrograde through Pisces.
This is not ordinary sky.

Here on the East Coast, we may even witness a rare Selenelion at sunrise… the rising Sun and the eclipsed Moon sharing the horizon for a few fleeting moments. Ending and beginning in the same breath.

I wrote a piece weaving astronomy, mythology, ancestral memory, and grounded ritual guidance for how to work with this Blood Moon energy… gently, intentionally, and with courage.
If you feel something stirring… if you’ve been sensing a purge, a reset, a reckoning… this eclipse may be part of that story.

Let the Moon turn red. Let memory awaken. Let something complete.
May Mars grant you courage without aggression.
May Mercury in Pisces soften what needs compassion.
May the Worm Moon stir what is ready to grow.
May the rising Sun bless what remains.

With steadiness. With fire. With reverence.

Read the full piece below. Set your alarm. Step outside.

Blood Moon Eclipse, Full Worm Moon, and Remembering Who We Are

There is a lot moving in the world right now.
Headlines about international conflict, rising tensions, and uncertainty are circulating quickly. Information is fragmented. Emotions are heightened. And in moments like this, it can feel difficult to know what is true, what is amplified, and what is intentionally provocative. When clarity feels scarce, grounding becomes sacred.

Before reacting, before sharing, before spiraling… regulate. Slow your breathing. Unclench your jaw. Place your feet on the earth. Fear travels fast through nervous systems and social feeds alike. But steadiness travels too.

It is possible to care deeply without collapsing into despair. It is possible to stay informed without being consumed. It is possible to hold awareness and still choose love.

My prayer tonight… and every night… is for civilians. For families. For children. For innocent lives who simply want safety and stability. And for leaders… that wisdom would override ego, and discernment would override pride.

On an energetic level, our coherence matters. When we choose compassion over panic, intention over reaction, we contribute something stabilizing to the collective field. This is not bypassing reality. It is participating in it consciously.

Protect your energy. Discern what you consume. Step away when needed.
Light a candle instead of doom-scrolling.Send love instead of fear.Stay grounded. Stay sovereign. Stay heart-led.

We can hold grief and hope at the same time.
And we do not have to let fear write the future.

For those who wish to go deeper…
Over the years, The Enchanted Altar has become not only a physical space but even more than a shop. It has become a living practice… rooted in herbalism, moon cycles, ancestral remembrance, expressive creativity, and grounded magical work with:
The Living Hearth, on our website https://www.theenchantedaltar.com/the-living-hearth.html #/
and
Blog Style via Substack http://TheEnchantedAltar.Substack.com

I am now sharing that deeper layer on Substack… a space where I can write without rushing, teach without shortening, and hold nuance without shrinking it.

Inside my subscriber library you’ll find intentional practice, herbal product recipes, moon-aligned ritual, plant-based prayer, seasonal cosmology, ancestral threads from my Scottish, Irish, English, and Italian roots, and the quiet philosophy that underpins everything I create.

There is no expectation here.
Take what resonates.
Leave what doesn’t.
Adapt what calls to you.
This is not about performance spirituality.
It is about relationship… with the land, with the plants, with the moon, with memory, and with yourself.

For those who prefer something tangible, I also offer downloadable PDFs on our website, some free, some paid, designed as inspired spiritual instruction you can return to again and again. These are living documents. Tools for your altar. Guides for your own unfolding.

If you feel drawn to intentional practice and thoughtful exploration, I invite you into this space.

🌨 The storm outside. The medicine within.
A snowstorm is moving through the Northeast, and I found myself down to the last spoonful of Elderberry Syrup just as the wind began to rise.

So I stayed in and simmered herbs. I’m sharing a Lymph-Focused Elderberry Syrup recipe inspired by this season’s snow… plus thoughts on community herbalism, infused brandy, raw honey, and why making your own medicine matters.
Winter doesn’t only ask us to endure. It asks us to tend.

If you’re feeling the pull to turn your kitchen into a hearth this winter, this one is for you.

🔥 THE QUIET RISE 🔥
We have crossed a strange and beautiful bridge.
The shedding of the Wood Snake… the slow wisdom of the spiral, the skin left behind… gives way to the untamed breath of the Fire Horse.
An eclipse has passed.
The moon has emptied and begun again.
Winter loosens its grip, though the snow still lingers.
And somewhere in all of this…
A human being decides to come back to life.
That may be the most miraculous thing we ever witness.
Not the loud comeback.
Not the dramatic transformation.
But the quiet return.
The moment someone who has been buried beneath grief, exhaustion, disappointment, or doubt feels the faintest ember stir again.
The smallest warmth in the chest.
The soft re-igniting of curiosity.
The willingness to try.
Like the earth beneath snow… never truly dead, only resting.
Like a phoenix who does not burst into flame all at once, but first feels the heat gather in the bones.
We speak often of rebirth in mythic terms.
But real rebirth is subtle.
It is drinking water after forgetting to care for yourself.
It is answering one email.
It is stepping outside into the cold air and realizing you are still here.
The Fire Horse energy does not ask you to sprint.
It asks you to feel your pulse again.
And Saturday… Saturn’s day… reminds us:
Return is a discipline.
Saturn governs structure, devotion, commitment, time.
Not flashy magic… enduring magic.
Today’s magic is not about summoning something new.
It is about tending what is quietly returning.
🕯️ Light a single candle.
Write one promise you are ready to keep.
Clean one small corner of your altar or desk.
Touch the earth, even if it is frozen.
Saturn magic is:
• Boundaries
• Long-term vision
• Maturity
• Sacred responsibility
• Building something that lasts
If the Wood Snake shed what no longer fits,
and the Fire Horse brings ignition…
Saturn teaches you how to hold the flame without burning down your own house.
This is the quiet rise.
This is the glow returning.
This is the moment you realize:
You were never gone.
You were becoming.

My grandparents picked Dandelion from the yard for Sunday dinner.
Now we’re calling chemicals designed to eradicate plants like that “critical to national security.”
That contrast stayed with me.
This essay isn’t about outrage. It’s about reflection. About soil. About chronic illness. About what it means to honor the land between those who came before us and those who will come after us.
If you feel called, I invite you to read.
Let’s widen the conversation… gently.

Prayer · Spell · Meditation · Aromatherapy Candles
🕯️ There is something ancient about lighting a candle.
Across cultures and spiritual traditions, flame has been used for prayer, meditation, protection, remembrance, intention-setting, spellwork, and simple moments of quiet reflection.

At The Enchanted Altar, we carry a wide variety of candles to support many paths and aesthetics… whether your practice is devotional, folk-based, herbal, ancestral, meditative, or simply rooted in creating a beautiful peaceful space at home.

Among our offerings, we are especially honored to carry ritual candles from Astral Eye, the work of Kara and Michael, traditional witches and shopkeeps. Their work is deeply rooted in animism, folklore, spirit work, and ancestral reverence. Each piece is handcrafted in small batch using 100% Canadian beeswax, intentionally fixed with herbs, resins, oils, and crystals aligned to specific spiritual purposes.

From shadow-work companions inspired by Persephone…
To focused botanical altar candles for grounding, peace, renewal, and spirit communication…
To protection, banishing, and reversal candles for restoring energetic sovereignty…
These are potent, bespoke ritual tools.

But whether you are lighting a candle for protection, for love, for clarity, for healing, or simply for presence… the flame meets you where you are.

We welcome all practices.
We honor all paths.
We hold space for your intention.

Every flame is an invitation:
To descend.
To cleanse.
To ground.
To protect.
To transform.

Hail the spirits of the land🔥

A New Moon Solar Eclipse is one of them.
