🗓️ November is National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month. 💪🏼
‼️ Alzheimer's disease is often referred to as "Type 3 Diabetes" or "Estrogen Deficiency." 😲
❤️🩹 This is personal for so many of us, and it forces us to ask: What can we actually do to protect our brains?" 🧠
👎🏼 Conventional medicine often treats Alzheimer's as an inevitable, genetic memory disease. But in Functional Medicine, we see it differently. We recognize that the brain fog, the memory slips, and the cognitive decline of midlife are often tied to modifiable imbalances—and the biggest one is the crash of our beautiful, powerful hormone, Estrogen, otherwise known as “The Brain's Premium Fuel" ⛽
🧐 Estrogen can actually produce enzymes that break down the amyloid plaques in the brain that cause Alzheimer’s, and when Estrogen drops off sharply during menopause, the brain actually struggles, causing those nasty symptoms like brain fog and memory lapses. 🤯
