Family Chartmasters Friday Tip:

Accuracy matters when you’re building a family tree.

Double-check names, dates, and places across multiple sources.
Keep spelling consistent—decide once if it’s “Catherine” or “Katherine.”
Maintain a “master file” of your tree to avoid duplicates and mix-ups.
Be consistent with how you enter place info across all your peoples (USA vs United States vs United States of America, etc).

Pro Tip: Use a spreadsheet or genealogy software to keep your records tidy and searchable.

Family Chartmasters Friday Tip:

Before you can design a chart, you need the data! 🤓

Gather all that you can into one place, if possible.
Collect names, dates, and relationships from your genealogy software (Ancestry, FamilySearch, MyHeritage, RootsMagic, or GEDCOM files).
Don’t forget stories, photos, and treasured family documents.
Interview relatives while you can—those conversations often reveal details you won’t find in records.
Pro Tip: Create a dedicated folder on your computer for all family history documents and scans.
