Vertigo that âkeeps coming backâ is often misunderstood.
Vertigo, by definition, is the false sensation that you or your surroundings are moving or spinning caused by inner ear or brain issues.
Vertigo is a symptom, not a diagnosis. So itâs important to identify the root cause, otherwise youâre just managing the surface.
One of the most common causes of recurring vertigo is Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) - a mechanical issue in your inner ear where tiny crystals get out of place and trigger spinning with certain movements.
Medication or âwaiting it outâ doesnât fix a mechanical problem such as BPPV. But specific repositioning maneuvers performed by a skilled vestibular therapist can!
Also, avoiding movement doesnât retrain your system.
Itâs setting your body up to become hyper-vigilant.
Your brain needs the right kind of input and exposure to reset this.
So what actually helps?
⢠A proper vestibular evaluation
⢠Identifying the true cause
⢠Targeted repositioning or exercises
⢠Gradual return to movement
If your dizziness keeps coming back, or youâve been told âeverything is normalâ but you still donât feel right⌠thatâs your sign.
