Whoops - the blog is published now! Check it out at https://kentuckybreastfeedingcenter.com/blog/christmas-eve-a-quiet-reminder-for-tired-parents-navigating-feeding-right-now/

Christmas Eve looks a little different when you’re feeding a baby.

Maybe the house is loud and overstimulating…
Maybe you’re curled up at home in the quiet…
Maybe feeding feels tougher tonight — more fussiness, more cluster feeding, more pressure to “keep up” with the holiday pace.

If you’re feeling stretched thin, you’re not doing anything wrong.

This season asks a lot of tiny nervous systems — and a lot of big ones, too.
I wrote a Christmas Eve blog to bring you back to center.

It’s a gentle reminder that you and your baby don’t have to match the intensity of the holidays. You’re allowed to slow down, soften the noise, and follow the rhythm that works for your family.

The holidays are magical…

AND they can feel like a whirlwind when you’re trying to feed a newborn or navigate a sudden shift in feeding patterns.

Here’s the reassuring part:
You don’t have to load everyone into the car, juggle winter layers, or brave the cold to get expert help.

We come to you — or we meet you virtually — so you can get support in the environment where you and your baby already feel safest.

Whether it’s latch changes, clicking, fussing, milk supply worries, or simply needing someone to guide you through the next step, our team offers:
• In-home visits within 25 miles of Lexington
• Virtual support for families who prefer to stay bundled inside
• Same expert eyes, same personalized care — no travel required

Because your baby’s feeding journey doesn’t pause for the holidays… and neither do we.

Some feeding challenges aren’t feeding problems at all — they’re body problems.
And that’s where Abbey shines.

As both an Occupational Therapist and a Craniosacral Therapy (CST) provider, she brings a uniquely skilled, deeply holistic lens to infant feeding. When babies struggle with latch, fatigue easily, click during feeds, arch their backs, or seem uncomfortable no matter what you try — Abbey looks beyond the surface to understand why.

Her approach is gentle, evidence-informed, and centered on helping you feel confident in your baby’s progress. She partners with parents who know something is off but haven’t found answers yet — guiding you toward clarity, comfort, and real improvement.

Now booking OT + CST sessions for December and January.
If you’ve been wondering, “Is my baby trying to tell me something?” Abbey can help you figure it out.

Feeding shouldn’t feel like an uphill climb every single time — and if it does, it’s not because you’re doing something wrong.

Many babies carry tension from birth that makes latch, milk transfer, and comfort a real challenge. Things like clicking at the breast, slipping off the ni**le, fussing during feeds, rapid fatigue, reflux-like behavior, or preference for one side often have a body-based cause.

That’s where Craniosacral Therapy (CST) comes in.

CST is a gentle, hands-on approach that helps release restrictions in the jaw, neck, and whole body — supporting better feeding mechanics and greater overall comfort.

No forcing positions, no “try harder,” no leaving parents to sort it out alone.

Just thoughtful, expert support to help feeding feel easier for both of you.
We have limited CST appointments available this month.

If feeding feels stressful or your baby seems uncomfortable, this could be the missing piece you’ve been searching for.

If feeding suddenly feels harder this week, you’re not imagining it — and you’re not doing anything wrong.

December brings a perfect combination of things that make feeding feel “off”: colder weather (hello, body tension), holiday overstimulation, disrupted naps, bright lights, more visitors, and babies who are trying to take it all in at once.

Those tiny shifts show up as:
popping on and off
frustration at the breast or bottle
shorter or distracted feeds
clicking
tension in the jaw or body
more wake-ups
a latch that feels… different

Feeding challenges don’t mean you failed.

They mean your baby needs support — not guesswork.

If something feels off, trust that instinct. Getting help early can make feeding feel calm and connected again.
