Each person’s story is unique. Some disabilities are invisible. You may not always “see” pain, lack of focus, fatigue, cognitive challenges, sensory aversion, or anxiety. We may not even notice mobility challenges in public spaces. Yet, these barriers can impact a person’s ability to participate & regulate.
We have the opportunity to build a world that celebrates the strengths and beauty of all people; we have the power to treat people with dignity all the time— when they are suffering and when they are going through challenges. We have the power to intentionally build environments that support others. Yet, the systems and practical environments around us do not always support participation in daily activities! My clients & their families teach me so much about life through their perseverance & advocacy.
2 years ago Dr. Day was completing an executive certificate on home modification & looking at office spaces. When she saw the accessible door & an open space for a gym, her mind was full of possibilities about all Sunny Day Therapy could do & build in this beautiful, accessible space! Environments matter. Let’s do all that we can to support the regulation and participation of all around us.
Fast forward to now, building programs and sharing resources to enhance sensory health and regulation is a joy! It is an honor to share our space & to be part of your story.

Today is a reminder of how much strength, planning, and invisible effort often go into daily life for people living with disability and those who support them. Every story is different, every need is real, and every voice deserves space, respect, and inclusion.
This day also highlights how essential access, understanding, and thoughtful design are for creating environments where people can participate fully without being limited by the world around them.
