🚨 Joint Restriction after TKA

🦿 Our client sought out help following a total knee arthroplasty (TKA), otherwise known as a replacement.

🗓️ 2 months out of surgery with traditional rehab, continuing to experience sharp knee pain, limited range of motion, & abnormal walking mechanics.

📐 After some typical measurements, we identified a severe deficit related to our clients hamstring firing pattern, musculotendinous girth, & inability to raise the limb against gravity.

🪜 Our client finished the day conquering a full flight of steps with a reciprocal pattern, which had not been done in >6 months BEFORE surgery!

🚨 Balance Strategies

🧱 Anybody who has worked with us has probably heard all about the importance of solid foundations.

⚖️ Single-Limb Stance is an excellent assessment tool for all levels of clients, including seasoned athletes to our geriatric population!

⚠️ Identifying deficits and risk factors is a large part of our preventative maintenance programs & rehabilitative processes.

🦵 In these series of photos, we can strongly acknowledge a significant abnormality of weight distribution through the rear foot, along with excessive over-pronation of the left Talocrural (Ankle) joint, related to Posterior Tibial Muscle Insufficiency.

🏀 If you’re a jumper, runner, or explosive athlete experiencing foot or ankle pain, reach out to schedule an Athletic Lower Quarter Assessment today!

🚨 Rotator Cuff Tendinitis

↪️ Recurring, persistent shoulder pain is typically treated with exercise, shockwave therapies, steroid or platelet injections, electrotherapy, or kinesio-taping.

💡 The role of rehabilitation for rotator cuff impingement is essential to provide education, activity modification, and targeted routine to combat the injury.

🔑 However, the KEY to tendon regeneration and maximum healing is mechanical loading.

🧱 Proliferation of the collagen structures in the tendon leads to improved strength, therefore progressive loading is the building block to successful outcomes!

🙋🏻‍♂️ If you’ve had enough of your painful cuff, reach out to our PhysioFXN Doc to develop a plan that works for you!

🚨 Rotator Cuff Rehabilitation

⚖️ Weighing the options of conservative versus surgical management of your shoulder pain?

🧠 Taking the appropriate steps to address, manage, & control our pain earlier sounds like a no-brainer.

⚠️ 8-31% of surgical participants have a re-tear within 1-5 years following surgery.

🗓️ At 1 year, “Surgery may not improve shoulder pain or function compared with exercises, with or without glucocorticoid injections.”

🗣️ “At the moment, … (surgery) provides little or no clinically important benefits with respect to pain, function, overall quality of life or participant‐rated global assessment of treatment success when compared with non‐operative treatment.”

⌚️ It’s time we take control of our health & take that chip off your shoulder!

📞 Reach out to our Doc at PhysioFunction to create an individualized plan to improve your shoulder ROM, strength, and function!

🚨 Supraspinatus Tendinopathy

⚕️The most commonly injured musculotendinous unit of the Rotator Cuff (RTC) is the Supraspinatus.

👷‍♀️ The Supraspinatus functions:
☑️ Abduction of the Arm from 0-15 Degrees
☑️ Dynamic Stabilization of Shoulder Joint
☑️ Centralize the ball & socket joint during Lifting

📈 The highest degree of stress placed on the Supraspinatus tendon occurs during shoulder abduction.

☝️ Primary, Sub-Acromial Impingement of the RTC present with shoulder pain with overhead activities, feelings of shoulder weakness, or deep aching sensations.

✌️ Secondary Impingement, associated with swimmers and overhead athletes, present with clinical signs of overuse and instability.

🏋️‍♂️ Athletes with shoulder laxity & scapular dyskinesia who train frequently are at greatest risk for RTC injuries.
