I just got back from a relaxing vacation in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The sunshine and ocean water felt so rejuvenating that I wanted to do a quick video on why I feel that spending time at the beach should be basic health maintenance for all of us.

It’s been said that we must all suffer from one of two pains:

The pain of discipline or the pain of regret.

The attainment of life’s virtues is only achievable through discipline.

—It takes discipline to stick to the health plan when others are eating whatever they want.

—It takes discipline to go to the gym, or take that early morning walk, while others are sleeping in.

—It takes discipline to delay gratification and put your financial future first, while others spend for the moment.

—It takes effort and discipline to build a good relationship, rather than running on autopilot.

—It takes discipline to read the books and get the wisdom rather than scroll your phone.

So choose the path that may feel hard today,
but leads to strength, clarity, and peace tomorrow.

Because while the pain of discipline weighs ounces,
The pain of regret weighs tons.

🚜 Suppose a farmer has some land, and it's good, fertile land.

The land gives the farmer a choice; he may plant in that land whatever he chooses.

The land doesn't care. It's up to the farmer to make a decision.

Now, let's say that the farmer has two seeds in his hand—one is a seed of wheat, the other is crabgrass w**d.

🌱 He digs two little holes in the earth and he plants both seeds—one wheat, the other crabgrass w**d.

He covers up the holes, waters and takes care of the land...and what will happen?

Invariably, the land will return what was planted. As it's written in the Bible,"As ye sow, so shall ye reap."

Remember, the land doesn't care.

🌾 It will return bountiful crops in just as wonderful abundance as it will useless w**ds.

So up come the plants—one wheat, the other, w**ds.

🧠 The human mind is far more fertile, far more incredible and mysterious than the land, but it works the same way. It doesn't care what we plant...success...or failure.

A concrete, worthwhile goal...or confusion, misunderstanding, fear, anxiety, and so on.

But what we plant, it must return to us.

It’s impossible to have a rich, fulfilling life with good health and meaningful relationships if we’re always sowing w**ds of negativity, fear, and doubt in our mind.

So choose this day what you will plant. Be very selective and intentional about the seed — and then get to work cultivating it, watering it, and caring for it.

In due time, your life will return to you the choices you’ve made and the efforts of your labor.

Here's the truth about stomach acid: It shouldn't be suppressed, it needs optimized.

The 2 sphincters in your stomach are pH regulated. They clamp shut very tightly when your stomach makes acid, thus, preventing acid reflux and GERD.

🧪 Contrary to popular belief, most people have too little stomach acid -- a condition called hypochlorhydria.

This is especially true after the age of 60.

When your stomach doesn't produce enough acid, your LES (lower esophageal sphincter) doesn't close properly, allowing acid to reflux back up into the throat, causing GERD and heartburn.

🚩 PPI medications make the problem worse.

It's like winning the battle, but losing the war.

📉 By continually suppressing stomach acid your esophagus sphincter will NEVER close properly - You'll always be reaching for more pills for short term relief, while exacerbating the problem with every dose.

Furthermore, stomach acid provides a quality control to the rest of the bowels, inhibiting things like dysbiosis and SIBO.

Stomach acid is also needed to absorb B12, iron, calcium, protein, zinc, magnesium and other nutrients. Without it, you quickly become depleted.

Get to the root cause of these issues by restoring stomach acid, not depleting it.

Although I never met him, a man named Jim Rohn has had a profound impact on my life.

One of my favorite teachings from him is called Diseases of Attitude. 🧠

Attitude diseases are like w**ds in your garden; they’re a normal part of life. Remember this: Negativity is not successful, but it’s normal.

As Mr. Rohn would say: Life is part negative and we must learn to handle the negative. Don’t ignore it. You don’t have to live in it, you don’t have to dwell in it, but you do have to handle it.

The first part of handling negativity in our mindset is to become aware of it. So this week analyze your own thoughts and see if you fall prey to any of these attitude diseases:

Neglect: a week of neglect can cost you a year of repair. If you neglect your car or home, it will eventually become run down and cost you a lot more in repairs. Our mind and body are the same way. They both require constant maintenance to run healthfully.

Indifference: If you don’t make your choice, it will be made for you. There’s one problem with drift: You cannot drift to the top of the mountain. God says in the bible that He’d rather you be hot or cold, not lukewarm. So, pick a direction and go with everything you’ve got! What if it’s the wrong direction? You’ll find out quicker!

Indecision: Mental paralysis. "What should I do?" "Which direction should I take?" Make decisions: The wrong decisions give you better life experience so that you can make better decisions for the future. So don’t see how many decisions you can get out of, see how many decisions you can get into. Taking action, action, action is the best of all! You will either arrive at your destination faster, or find out that something is not right for you.

Doubt: Doubt is like a plague. The worst is self-doubt. (Doubt if you can make it, do it, become it. Doubt that you will be well again...) I want you to become a believer. Most importantly, become a believer in yourself. Become a believer that the life you want to live is attainable by you.

Worry: Worry does nothing to change your circumstances and literally causes health problems. My advice? Just give it up. Being free of worry does not mean being free of challenge, or free of difficulty; but you can face those parts of life without worry.

Overcaution: The timid approach to life. Having to research everything to an exhausting degree instead of just taking action. “But, what if this happens?” Here’s the truth: it’s all risky. Taking action is risky, but doing nothing is even riskier! I’ll tell you how risky life is: You’re not going to get out alive. Don’t ask for security, ask for adventure. “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.”

Pessimism: Looking at the bad side, the problem side, all the reasons that it can’t be done and why it won’t work out. Here's the truth: Our lives are mostly affected by the way we think things are, not the way they are. Your mind is like a mental factory: whatever you pour into it is going to create the fabric of your life. The scripture puts it best when it says: As a man thinketh, so he becomes.

Complaining: A deadly disease that draws negativity into your life. Complaining does nothing to fix your circumstances, it just wastes time. Do your best to avoid complainers at all costs - don’t even be around them. Jim referred to complaining as "economic cancer of the bones".

Why am I sharing this with you?

It's expected in a health coaching program to focus on nutrition, supplements, and lab testing.

However, powerful as they are, those subjects do not comprise the whole picture of health.

Our thoughts and emotions play a massive role in our results to a level altogether unsuspected by most people.

I suggest to you that if your doctor isn't working with you to address these areas, you may be leaving very valuable tools on the table. Neglecting this area may even sabotage your results.

Is your health holding you back from the life you really want to live?
