Spirit moves through us differently. It may look wild and ecstatic...that is how its is supposed to be. It may look flashy and outlandish...that's on purpose!
Now the next thing someone might say is Ta**ra is Hindu, how is there even a western indigenous or African Style of Ta**ra? That's cultural appropriation.
First off...Shut up! and that's also Second!
Ta**ra means to weave...which is a process of bringing things together. Ta**ra is also a technology.
Every culture had a way of connecting with themselves, the world and the divine.
Every culture, however, has NOT had the privilege of their lands NOT being r***d and pillaged.
We have lost languages, temples, traditions, techniques, books etc.
Many of our ancestors used oral transmission. And because we no longer have our terminology for the same thing does NOT mean that we didn't do/engage in it.
Ta**ra as a religion is something different that is specifically Hindu and Tibetan and is extraordinarily beautiful.
The act of weaving ourselves into nature/universe and using our bodies as technology spans the globe.
The work that I do helps us recover the lost techniques that the rest of the world had in these areas. This is Sankofa work and it must be done.
The traditional ta***ic and yogic philosophies help me place the findings into an already established system.
I fully respect the Hindu perspective but at times it is very UNINCLUSIVE!...which is fine. But we still gonna do our ish!
