Spending a whole lotta time resting and recovering. ❤️‍🩹

Unfortunately, the recovering process is fraught with frustration over the difficult task of getting a newly operated on brain to function and communicate like it used to and adjusting to the new sensory input of having sudden changes to his visual field.

Day by day he is improving though. We went out to do a bit of Christmas shopping this morning and stopped to grab him some lunch before coming home to rest the remainder of the day.

Written and organized for my husband and I by my sister in law : This event is a fundraiser for my brother, Josh who is 44 and an amazing father/step father to 4 children and is an extended family care taker for another person. He is also a devoted husband, brother, son and uncle.

Josh found out in June that he had a brain mass. He has had surgery, and we found out the tumor was a very rare and aggressive form of glioblastoma. He has been through a round of chemo & radiation and is going through another round of chemo. There are mounting medical bills and other expenses and Josh doesn’t receive paid time off.

This has all come as a complete shock to their family and our extended family.

Josh is such an impassioned person who cares so much about his own health and others, his life is devoted to working and caring for people who have different needs and caring for his community at large. When he hits a wall he finds a solution. He has worked in human services at DD group homes for over 15 years and has successfully found ways to help people communicate better and ways to provide more stable and relevant care, and has brought knowledge and research that has completely improved people’s quality of life and is now caring for someone in his home. We are so proud of Josh and love him so much, he still continues to be committed to his health and finding the best options for himself and learning as much as he can.

With this type of news it can also be a struggle to continue to feel motivated and encouraged and supported, if you aren’t able to come or in a place financially to bid on something at this event I encourage you to share this and invite people. If you can help out even just a little it would be so helpful. If you know Josh and want to reach out, please do, but know that he may not respond right away or at all, as this is so overwhelming, it will mean a lot either way. Please also do not reach out on Facebook messenger because Josh does not have it.

As the time grows closer I’ll be sharing more info about the event and sharing items that will be available as well as people and businesses that are participating, keep an eye out and save the date!

Welp - I’m 2 weeks in and 5 # down

I’ve decided to trial a 45 minutes on the stair stepper plan I saw on the ⏰ app 😂 She did 45 minutes for 45 days but I know me and that I’ll get mad the first time I miss so I’m just going the days I can swing it schedule wise and do 45-60 minutes 🤷‍♀️

Today I did 45 and walked for 15 for a cooldown. I’m not spending 3 hours a day at the gym this time - working on this time around

I could be further with more consistency but between holidays, birthdays, birthday parties and a sick kid it’s what I’ve got 🤷‍♀️

I plan to be more consistent but I’m also well aware we have more birthdays and holidays this month - hopefully done with illness 😩 - and I plan to just go with the flow

Ok - here we go…..

Again 🙄😅

This was taken day 1 and I am currently on day 4

Reminding myself I am still 70 # down from where I actually started fairly often lately 😒

I’m thinking tomorrow I will lift - I’ve just been walking while I get back into the habit of getting to the gym 🚶‍♀️

I’m taking it slow and easy on myself - or trying to anyway 🤷‍♀️

It may take me a little longer but that’s ok

Pumpkin patch today at and we all had a great time!

Lincoln clearly enjoyed his cookie 🍪…or 7 😂

I didn’t take many pictures; too busy enjoying the day 😌

Today was Mt. Democrat ⛰ and we did not finish. It was a surprisingly time consuming hike 🥾to where we turned back. We trekked over a bit to a little waterfall. I kept trying to get pictures to show how steep the climb was but my eyes 👀 must just be dramatic 🤨because none look as steep as it did to me in the moment 🤪

Shoutout 🗣 to the girlie 👱🏻‍♀️ who saw me slip, slide and stumble across the rocks 🪨 of first stream and when I said, “I’m just trying to get across with a single soaking wet foot.” Replied, “You’re killin’ it!” Spoiler: I was not, in fact, killin’ it 🤷‍♀️😂

Second shoutout 🗣 of the day goes to the girlie 👩‍🦳sprawled across a picnic table, who sat up 🫢shrugged 🤷‍♀️ and threw out a thumbs up 👍 after I fell in this same exact spot on the way down 😂 I waved 👋 and confirmed I was fine with a thumbs up 👍

🤷‍♀️ I left my pride on that mountain ⛰ today

Busy day today! We hiked Crystal Lake, Aidan had senior photos, and then Lincoln talked us into ice cream 🍦 It was a beautiful and much easier trail today than yesterday - much less straight uphill 🥾

Oh man!

I’m currently almost done with this 6 week program and it’s still terrible 😂

I have noticed zero changes to my body’s appearance 🫣

BUT 🫵

I have DEFINITELY noticed changes in my strength 💪

I have quintupled the number of push-ups (still knee push-ups 🙄 but let’s focus on the positive) I can do without a break - and just in general 🤷‍♀️

I can do more squats and be able to walk the next day 🦵

I have discovered that I have a real love/hate relationships with rowing - but it’s honestly mostly love 🤪

My run/jog still needs much work 😂 (as do the others) but it’s a heck of a lot further than I was at 4 weeks ago…

SO, I’ll take it 🥹

Focusing on the positives and my progress rather than staying stuck in frustration because really the point is to -

build that muscle,

move my body,

ride those endorphins,

make my own dopamine by doing difficult things,

and fall back in love with my workouts and progress 🤩

So, I don’t look much different than I did last month but I feel different. I know those changes will start rolling in soon.

My goal for this next week is to add in a 15 minute workout (maybe some cardio type things) first thing before work 🏋️‍♀️

We will see how that goes 😅 Sometimes mornings are hard 🤷‍♀️

⚠️ 💪

I have always joked that if you see me running you better run too 🏃‍♀️

BUT I started this week and today was run day 😞

25 minutes 😅 I obviously went out and had to do walk/run intervals but I ran more than I have in years so 🥂

Pretty sure I oversold my fitness abilities when I answered the questions, probably a bit of denial on my part 😩 so this program has been really hard but I’m sticking with it to see it through. It’s 4 days a week for 6 weeks; I can do anything for 6 weeks 🤷‍♀️

I definitely have plenty of room for improvement, so here’s to getting my focus back on track 🥳

I tried these two versions of Farmers Juice.

I actually like them both! Though full disclosure, both the hubs & Lincoln think I’m crazy for sipping on them 🤪

I do think I prefer the Focus one. They’re both light and definitely green tasting but I like the lemon 🍋 basil 🌿 hints in the focus.

In the digestive one I can definitely pick out the turmeric (which is quite peppery to me and burns a bit) and the tang of the ACV. I personally still find it refreshing - though obviously not the whole house agrees 😂

I’ve been down since Wednesday night and today is the first day I’ve really decided I may brave some actual food (IYKYK 😬) so it was nice to have these around to try as I ease my way back into eating and I actually found them quite pleasant 🤷‍♀️
