Here is an amazing program for anyone interested in adding dogs into their work. It is not just for therapists. It could be for a teacher, administrator or social worker, etc. I completed a different AAT certificate program with them in 2021 and I feel it is exactly what I needed before I started my farm based practice. This is the program I did if anyone is interested.

The Institute for Human-Animal's Canine-Assisted Intervention Specialist certificate program starts August 22nd! It is a fully virtual, competency-based certificate program that includes an online workshop with your instructors and peers, followed by two online courses. Every week, you will be learning the knowledge and skills to ethically and successfully incorporate canines into your professional work with plenty of opportunity for hands-on practice through your assignments. This program is taught by Phil Tedeschi and Jen Pearson, and they will be available each week to offer you individualized feedback and support your learning. Read more about the program, including dates, specific course topics, and testimonials from previous students, on our website page linked below!

We only offer this program once per year -- reach out to us with any questions at ihac@du.edu. We'd love for you to join us, or please share with anyone in your circles you think may be interested.

Babies!!! Oscar and Ella are parents to five adorable chicks!! Oscar who is usually running around being the loudest on the farm, is not leaving the nest and is perfectly quiet. There are five total, some are brown/white and the others yellow. ❤️

Well now we know…we have two male and two female ducks. Oh and that’s Oscar making all the noise in the background. He is trying to get me to carry him. 😂

The Institute for Human-Animal Connection's popular Animals and Human Health certificate program starts on June 3! Join us to learn with a completely refreshed curriculum that includes the latest research in the human-animal interactions and interventions field and current best practices, alongside experienced instructors that are currently practicing.

Throughout the program, you will develop skill and expertise regarding the practical application of human-animal interactions and understand how the effects of these methods can be demonstrated with various settings and populations -- tailored to you! You will select your animal species, population, and setting you focus on, resulting in a specialized education that fits your goals. By the end of our certificate, you will be prepared to create (with instructor and peer feedback) a high-quality and ethical human-animal-environment interaction program or intervention, ready to be taken into your place of employment and implemented.

Our program is completely virtual and is designed for working professionals that need flexibility and to learn on their own time, within the assigned weekly due dates. Read more, find contact info for us if you have questions, and apply here: https://socialwork.du.edu/humananimalconnection/education-certificates/animals-human-health-certificate
