✨Meet our newest Milestone Achiever: Messiah ✨

When Messiah came to Bryan Pediatric Rehab at 10 months old, he could not sit on his own, crawl or pull himself up to stand.

Now at 18 months, he can sit by himself, get onto his hands and knees, pull himself up to stand and walk with help. Recently, he stood for a few seconds all on his own!

He enjoys bubbles, balls, singing songs with hand motions and playing with his mom. His joyful personality shines during every visit.

Way to go, Messiah!

Looking for more ways to connect as a family? Start at the table.

Family meals, even one shared meal a week, are linked to healthier eating, stronger relationships and positive routines for kids. Small changes can make a big difference.

Here are some practical tips to help bring everyone together more often and make mealtime something to look forward to: https://lnk.bryan.org/3MhrQsY

Congratulations to Jami Criswell, PCT, for receiving the February Tulip Award!

Here is what staff had to say about Jami:
"Jami is reliable, hardworking and consistent. I have seen her jump in to do additional tasks as needed for the team. She is very knowledgeable about her role in the GI Lab and is a great resource for new techs. She takes time to introduce herself to every patient before a procedure, building a sense of trust with them."

Jami, thank you for the care you provide daily to your patients. You make a difference in the lives of others. We are grateful that you are part of the Bryan Medical Staff.

You can take the coach off the court, but you can't take the coach out of the woman. 🧡

After her stroke, Cindy “Coach” Meyer brought the same grit and leadership to Bryan Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation that she showed in her 26 years as head volleyball coach at Doane University. She attacked therapy like preseason conditioning – pushing through balance and coordination drills and working closely with physical, occupational and speech therapists to rebuild the strength and skills needed to return to teaching.

As she progressed, Coach stepped right back into leadership, creating a mobility obstacle course and guiding fellow stroke survivors through it. On discharge day, staff surprised her by wearing Doane gear in her honor – a fitting send off for someone who reminds us that recovery is a team sport.

Choking can happen quickly, but knowing what to do when it occurs can make all the difference.

The latest first aid guidance recommends a simple sequence of back blows followed by abdominal thrusts to help clear the airway in adults and children. Recognizing the signs early and acting fast can make all the difference.

Learn what to watch for and how to respond with confidence.
