Patient Tina Petty wasn’t “clowning around” when she dressed up in a clown costume and passed out red noses during her discharge. The Lincoln resident had spent six weeks on the Swing Bed unit and wanted to leave caregivers with smiles & encouragement like they had given her during her recovery. “I like to put people on the happy side,” she said. Effective March 11, temporary visitor restrictions are lifted at all Memorial Health hospital locations. These restrictions are no longer necessary because respiratory illness activity has been low statewide for several weeks, according to data from the Illinois Department of Public Health. We have also seen a significant drop in hospitalization due to respiratory illness.

With the lifting of these restrictions, the following changes go into effect:
- More than two visitors are now permitted in patient rooms.
- Visitors younger than 18 are now permitted in patient rooms when appropriate.
