As the New Year begins - public health advocates continue to create stress and anxiety regading wearing face coverings.
When tested in labs - using an atomizer and a stationary manaquin which is in a fixed position where the face covering is fitted perfectly and doesn't move.... then the KN95 / N95 mask can filter 83-99% of particles > than .3 microns (Viral particles are < than .1 micron)
SURGICAL MASKS - 42-88%
CLOTH MASKS - 16-23%
BANDANAS - 9%
Clinically however - this isn't the case and if you just observe what people do - you will see why. They are not stationary, they touch the mask constantly, more than half wear the face covering on the chin or neck for show, some wear it under their nose, some take the mask off to sneeze or cough then put it back on, or they might use the same mask for an entire year,
Either way, the clinical efficacy of a face covering is inferior to the actual benefits.
One suggestion.... promote ways to improve your underlying health and wellness. Since 2019 - public health adovcates focus on barrier methods and social solation rather than encouaging and helping us get stronger and healthier.
